What I Love

Sale-A-Bration is wrapping up and I just wanted to thank all those that have supported my business during the past three months.  If you haven’t placed your Sale-A-Bration order, yet, you only have 4 days left to do so!

This is one of the cards we made at the last Sale-A-Bration series class – it was FREE for anyone who had placed a $50 order with me in the beginning of March.  The images are all from the What I Love stamp set – which you can choose FREE with a $50 (US – prior to S/H and tax) purchase.  Love the font for the sentiments in this set.

SU! What I Love

To give my background a little interest, we embossed the panel with the Elegant Dots embossing folder and then used the de-bossed side.  It almost looks like paper piercing.  Just another way to get more from your embossing folders!

The colors used in today’s card are Calypso Coral, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sky.  The outline of the flower was stamped full strength in Calypso Coral while the “filler” stamp was stamped off on scrap before being stamped on the card stock.  Great way to create matching tones for 2 or 3 step stamping.

Black or White?

Hi! And welcome to my new blog location!  Glad you found me!  Excuse the appearance, I am still trying to figure my way around a self-hosted site and don’t quite have everything up yet.

But, I didn’t want to leave you without any crafty goodness while I worked on making my blog pretty, so here you go.

SU! Rose Wonder

I decided to mix the old with the new for today’s cards.  I love this huge rose from the Rose Wonder stamp set.  I decided to pull out my old Pearl-Ex (we don’t carry it in the Stampin’ Up! catalog anymore – but I know many of you probably still have some and haven’t played with it in a while).  I decided to use the Painted Pearls technique – filling my aquapainter with Future Floor Wax, dipping it into my pearl-ex and then painting my rose and leaves.  The pearl-ex gives a nice shine and really pops on the Basic Black card stock.  Here is a close up of the flower:

SU! Rose Wonder

I also decided to die-cut the rose from black card stock to lay over the top – here is that version:

SU! Rose WonderI know the white embossing pops more on the black card stock, but I really like how the black die cut looks as well.

I’d love to hear what you think!

Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Lamb

Love this cute little guy from the Occasions catalog called Easter Lamb.  He is perfect for Easter, but also for babies!  I recently taught a group of ladies how to do the Drapery fold.  Decided I’d try and see if I could do a double one – took me a few tries to get the center to look the way I wanted, but in the end, loved how it turned out.

SU! Easter Lamb

The Designer Series Paper is the Wild Wasabi from the Subtles Designer Series Paper stack.  I started with a 2 1/2″ x 12″ piece.  With 6″ being my center, I scored my first line at 5 1/4″ and then worked backward scoring at 1/2″ then 1″ increments until I hit the end.  I then went back and scored at 6 3/4″ (wanted 1 1/2″ center piece with 6″ being my center line) and worked forward scoring at 1/2″ and 1″ increments to the opposite end.  So, laying it all out, here are my score lines:

1/4″, 3/4″, 1 3/4″, 2 1/4″, 3 1/4″ 3 3/4″, 4 3/4″, 5 1/4″, 6 3/4″, 7 1/4″, 8 1/4″, 8 3/4″, 9 3/4″, 10 1/4″, 11 1/4″, 11 3/4″.

Then, start at either side of the center and fold accordion style.  I placed tear & tape on the top on the back of the Designer Paper and adhered it to a white piece measuring 4 1/2 x 4 1/2″.  I used the black stitched ribbon to cover the top of my fold.  The little lamb was colored with Basic Gray and Wild Wasabi markers directly to the stamp.  I then used Wink of Stella to add a touch of glitter to his body and head.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

A Different Take

Hi!  Today I am playing along with this week’s What Will You Stamp challenge – #WWYS55.

The challenge is to use the Balloon Celebrations set.  I recently held a class featuring this bundle – and while the primary cards are balloons, came up with a few that were not.  Here is one of those cards:

SU! Balloon Celebration, Cups & Kettles Framelits

The steam coming out of the cup are the balloon strings stamp from the set.  The sentiment is also from that set.  The cup is created using the Cups & Kettles framelits.  I really liked how this note card turned out.

I’ve put together a tutorial of all 6 of the cards we made – if you purchase the Balloon Celebrations bundle through me (US residents), I will happily email you the tutorial for free.  Here is a link to my store:

Teresa’s Stampin’ Spot Store

The bundle contains the balloon punch as well as the Balloon Celebrations stamp set.  If you wish to bump up your order to $50 to get a FREE Sale-A-Bration item, might I suggest the It’s My Party Washi Tape and Whisper White note cards – both will be used in the tutorial.

Here’s a little bit of a peek at the cards:

Mountain Reflections

Hi.  Continuing on with another card made at Sunday’s workshop.  This card uses the reflection or mirror technique.  It is much easier to do than I thought and everyone loved it.  The mountains and flower are from the In The Meadow set in the Occasions Catalog.  Such a great set and perfect for scenic cards.

SU! In the Meadow

To create the reflection, first, stamp your image on your card stock.  I used Basic Gray Archival ink.  Then stamp your image on a piece of acetate (the sheet that comes in your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig also works well.  Flip over your acetate and line it up with the image on your card stock.  (Do this in the air so you do not smudge the transfer.  When you have the acetate image lined up, set the acetate on your card stock and then rub across the back of the image to transfer the ink to your card stock.  Remove the acetate and sponge ink to create your water surface for the reflection.  I used Pool Party for my pond.  I also sponged Old Olive for my grass, Smokey Slate for the mountains, and Soft Sky for the sky (not showing up very well in this picture).

What do you think?  Inspired to give it a try?

A Jelly Hello

Good morning!  How are you today?  I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I sure did!  Kicked off the weekend Friday night with my Balloon Celebration class (more on that in a post later this week) and on Sunday had a workshop featuring new techniques.  Today’s card is one of the cards we made at Sunday’s workshop.

SU! From Land to Sea, Dozen Thoughts, Salted Background

The background for this is the Salted Background technique.  A little hard to see in the picture, but here is how it works:

  1. Spritz your card stock (for this we used Watercolor Paper) with water.
  2. Starting at the bottom, apply Island Indigo ink with an aquapainter on the bottom 1/3 of the card stock (I just placed a few drops from the re-inker on the inside lid of the pad and picked it up from that.)
  3. Apply Bermuda Bay ink in the middle
  4. Apply Pool Party ink on the top.
  5. Sprinkle with coarse salt
  6. Spritz water over salt if it doesn’t appear to be absorbed by the ink
  7. Let dry, brush off the salt, then stamp your main image (here is the Jelly Fish from the set From Land To Sea)

As you apply the colors, they will run together.  The salt then pulls some of the color out leaving little “bubbles” behind in the ink.

You might get a bit inky, and I recommend placing a paper towel under your cardstock to help absorb some of the water and ink as it runs around and off the card stock.  You can also speed up the drying time using a heat gun if you’d like.

The guests really enjoyed this technique and each background was different – the fun of this technique!  The guests also enjoyed earning a FREE Sale-A-Bration product with each $50 purchase they made.  There are still 17 days left of Sale-A-Bration – so if you haven’t gotten your FREE items yet – you still have time to place your order!

Thanks for stopping by!  I’d love to hear your thoughts on this technique!

Heart of Thanks

Hi!  I am participating today in Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlight featuring Thank You cards using Stampin’ Up! products.  I hope you can take the time to check out the other entries and vote for your favorite! My card is #22 and I’d love your vote!

I am making these cards to send to my neighbors who participated in the American Heart Associations Neighborhood Drive.

SU! Bloomin' Love, Endless Thanks

For my card, I decided to use the watercolor wash technique – very easy to do and I love the results!  Using your aquapainter, pick up some Blushing Bride ink (place a few drops on the inside lid of your  Blushing Bride ink pad), and brush it over the watercolor paper.  You can add more color as you go down the card stock.  Keep repeating until you have the results you desire.  Let dry before stamping your image.  The heart is from the Bloomin’ Love set in the Occasions Catalog and stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  The sentiment and banner are from Endless Thanks.  I just love that font!  I added some bling by running strips of Blushing Bride glimmer paper (also in the Occasions Catalog) down the sides and die cutting the flowers from the same glimmer paper using the Bloomin’ Heart thinlets.

Thanks for checking out my card!

Silhouette Sympathy

Good morning!  Today I am sharing a card that I like to use for Sympathy cards.  The soft colors of the main image I feel are very soothing.

SU! Serene Silhouettes, Wetlands, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Color Me Irresistable

To create this look, I first stamped the cattails from the Wetlands set in Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I then clear embossed the flowers from Serene Silhouettes.  Sofy Sky was then sponged around the flowers to make them pop and Old Olive was sponged along the bottom for grass.  The background is from Color Me Irresistable – I chose the woodgrain Crumb Cake sheet and brayered Chocolate Chip ink over the top.  The sentiment is stamped in Soft Sky and punched out with the Word Window and then layered on a Washi Label Crumb Cake mat.  The ribbon is retired Natural Ribbon.

Did You Ever Hit

a brick wall when crafting?  Sometimes you just don’t have any mojo at all.  It is amazing how you can sit there and try to come up with an idea and then it hits – why not play with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder and see what you can do?

I really wanted my background to look like a brick wall, so I placed a small piece of temporary adhesive on the back of my card stock before running it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder.  Then I used my brayer to ink up the card stock before I removed it from the folder.  This way, I didn’t mush my bricks AND the brayer only inked the raised bricks, leaving the “mortar” lines white!  Isn’t that a quick and easy way to make your brick wall?

Here’s the first card I made:

SU! Brick Wall EF, Botanical Builders, Garden in Bloom

Pretty cool background, right?  I used Cherry Cobbler ink for my bricks.

Well, I also decided to go with a softer look, and the second one I made is this:

SU! Brick Wall, Botanical Builders, Garden in Bloom

For this one, I used Sahara Sand to ink up my wall.  The flowers and leaves were created with the Botanical Fields Builder framelits.  These die cuts are so pretty.  The sentiment is from Garden in Bloom.

So, what do you think?  Going to try making your own brick wall?

Just wanted to remind you that we are in the last month of Sale-A-Bration.  If you haven’t placed your order and earned your FREE goodies, don’t wait too much longer!!   I still have open dates for in-home workshops – or consider hosting an on-line party!  Once your show hits $250 in merchandise (prior to S/H and tax in the US) you earn an extra $25 in hostess dollars!!   OR if you are an “I want it all!” person, then join my team!  Choose $155 worth of Stampin’ Up! goodies for just $99 + tax!!  That is $56 worth of goodies FREE!!  And you pay NO shipping on your kit!   How cool is this deal??  Let me know if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them for you!
