Dragonfly Wishes

Hi!  Today I have another Dragonfly Card to share with you that also features the Inside The Lines Designer Series Paper you can earn FREE with a minimum $50 (US) purchase prior to S/H and tax.

This is one of the cards we did at Friday night’s Sale-A-Bration class.  This was a FREE class for those who placed a minimum $50 purchase with me during January.  The flowers were colored using the new Watercolor Pencils and a Blender pen. I like the idea of coloring only a few of the flowers – but I may go back and add a little more color to the top right block.   To get the block look, here are my measurements:

  1. Cut Designer Series Paper in a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2″ square.
  2. Cut a 2″ strip.  Then cut this strip at 2″ – that gives you a 2″ square (in the upper right) and a 1 1/2 x 2″ rectangle (lower right).
  3. Cut the 1 1/2″ strip at 1″.  This gives a 1 1/2 x 1″ rectangle (top left and a 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle (lower left).

These pieces are then adhered to a 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ black piece of card stock.

For the dragonfly, we sponged Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay (I know you can’t see that color in the dragonfly – it is covered by the black detail in his body) on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock before die cutting.  It was fun to see how everyone sponged their colors – everyone had a little different dragonfly.

The sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and is from the Avant Garden Sale-A-Bration set.

I hope you enjoyed today’s creation.  If you have the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper – how have you used it?

A Huge Thank You!

Hi!  I found out this week that I made Kylie Bertucci’s Top 10 for the January International Project Highlights!

I so appreciate all of you that voted for this card!  I will be hopping with the rest of the Top 10 winners (as well as those from December) in February.

SU! So Very Much, Delicate Details, SAB 2017

This card is for you!  The card is a single layer card featuring 2 of this year’s Sale-A-Bration sets – So Very Much and Delicate Details.  A few tips – stamp the Thank You first in the center of your card.  Then stamp the lace trim – first in Mint Macaron – I had my card square to the grid on my grid paper and was able to line up the stamp using the grid lines to make sure I stamped it straight.  I then inked the same stamp in Cucumber Crush, flipped it over and again lined it up using the grid lines as well the Mint Macaron image so that it was straight and matched the first image.  Worked like a charm!  Hope this helps if you decide to try.

You can earn either or both of these  sets for FREE with a minimum $50 (US) purchase (prior to S/H and tax!)

Team Stamp It Valentine’s Blog Hop

Hi!  Welcome to the Team Stamp It! Valentine’s Day Blog Hop!  I hope you are enjoying the projects we have prepared for you for Valentine’s Day!

I went a little non-traditional on my color scheme – hope you don’t mind.

SU! Love You Lots, Envelope Punch Board

My all time favorite hostess set is the Love You Lots set – the animals are just adorable and make great cards for any occasion.  Today I am using this little frog.  I used the new Watercolor Pencils to color him in along with a blender pen.  The hearts on the top of the card and on the tag for the box are punched using the Confetti Heart punch.  The heart on the sentiment is one of our Brights Enameled Embellishments.  I used solid black baker’s twine wrapped around 4 times as my ribbon.

Here is a close up of the card:

SU! Love You Lots

Here is the box – thanks to Michelle Long from the Artisan Design Team for the idea:

SU! Love You Lots, Envelope Punch Board

The box is made using the Envelope Punch Board as follows:

  •  Cut a 6×6 piece of Designer Series Paper
  • Score and punch each side at 2 1/8″ and 3 7/8″
  • Cut in to form tabs on two opposite sides
  • Fold on all score lines
  • Adhere tabs using Tear & Tape

Here is a picture of the box scored and the tabs cut:

The belly band around the box is a 7 1/2 x 2″ strip of Vellum card stock.  Score at 6 1/4″, 5″, 2 1/2″, and 1 1/4″.  After scoring, use the Scalloped Tag Topper punch to punch both ends.  Tie together and add a tag.

These boxes hold around 5 Hershey Chocolate hearts.

Butterfly Swish

Hi!  How are you today?  I hope doing well.  Today I have a card that I CASEd (Copy and Share/Selectively Everything/Edit) from Song of My Heart’s year end review.

SU! Work of Art

I love the color combination of Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight – so bright and cheerful.   For my version, I first stamped the Swish from Work of Art in the three colors and then ran the stamped panel through the Big Shot with the Butterfly die.  I found that if I die cut first and then stamped, I had too much of a border around the butterfly and not much ink left for the swish.   A piece of Whisper White cardstock is tucked behind the opening.  A pretty quick and easy card to make for any occasion.

Hope you enjoyed today’s quick and easy card!

A Little Hope

Hi! Today I am playing along with Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlight and this month’s theme is Travel.  You are able to VOTE for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. You can do that here.

I love visiting Light Houses and was so excited to see this set in the Occasions Catalog.

SU! High Tide

The set is called High Tide and will make gorgeous cards for any occasions – masculine, encouragement, thank you, and more.  My primary colors for my card are Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, and Island Indigo.  The set is photopolymer, which helps with aligning the stamps to create your scene.  I hope you’ll give this set a try!

Don’t forget to hop over to Kylie’s blog to vote for my card!  I’d love to make the Top 10 and be included in one of her blog hops.

Also, Sale-A-Bration kicked off January 4th along with the Occasions Catalog!  With every $50 (USA – prior to S/H and tax) you get a FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog!  Shop my on-line store here.

Dragonfly Fan

Hi!  Are you a fan of Dragonflies?  I love them and was so excited when Dragonfly Dreams appeared in the Occasions Catalog.  I made this card for a recent swap:

SU! Dragonfly Dreams, Butterfly Basics

The background is called Scored Spotlight  that I had seen in this video by my upline Tami White.  I first stamped the leaves from Butterfly Basic in Pear Pizzazz repeatedly (stamp atleast 3 times before reinking).   Then scored the grid (flip the image over on the scoreboard so it is facing down when you are scoring) and lastly sponge the grid.  The Dragonfly is stamped with StaZon on Vellum cardstock,  die cut, then covered with Clear Wink of Stella.  He is then adhered to a copper foil dragonfly die cut.  Here is a closer look at the Dragonfly:

SU! Dragonfly Dreams, Butterfly Basics

Isn’t he just gorgeous?  I was very happy with how this card turned out and got the best compliment ever when one of the receivers said she wanted to frame it.  Made. My. Day.

The sentiment is stamped on Copper Foil with StaZOn ink.

A few Tips for today’s card:

  • Use a piercing mat behind your vellum when stamping the dragonfly – it will help give a more even image.  This is actually a great tip when stamping with ANY Photopolymer stamp.
  • When stamping on the foil sheets, use a gentle touch – the stamp will slide if you press down too hard and smudge your ink.

You can find all the products used in the making of this card in my on-line store here or by clicking on the image of the item below. Don’t forget we are Sale-A-Brating with Stampin’ Up right now – so for every $50 (US) prior to S/H and tax you spend, you get a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!  Host a $250 workshop or place a $250 order and you get an additional $25 in Hostess Dollars to spend!  JOIN my team and choose 2 FREE stamp sets with your starter kit (already a great deal when you choose $125 of product for just $99 + tax – NO SHIPPING plus you get over $50 of FREE business supplies)!

From the Whimsical to the Elegant

Hi.  In my last post I showed a Center Step Easel Card on the whimsical side.  Today I have one a bit more elegant.

SU! Floral Phrases

This card uses the Floral Phrases stamp set.  I used markers directly on the stamp to color my flowers.  The flower is colored with Night of Navy and the Leaves with Old Olive.  The Designer Paper is from the Floral Boutique pack.  My base is our 12×12 Kraft paper – I think it works very well with the Designer Paper.  I decided to punch out my sentiment this time and ink the edges with Night of Navy.  I also added a little bling to the flower using the Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter pen.  Here is a close-up showing that:

SU! Floral Phrases

You could easily change the sentiment and turn this into a wedding card if need be.  Since I don’t have any upcoming weddings, I went with the thanks sentiment in the set.

Hope you enjoyed today’s more elegant look to the Center Step Easel card!

There’s A Party Going On!

Let’s Celebrate! (Or Sale-A-Brate!)

Hopefully that made you chuckle – or shake your head – but I had the song going through my head this morning while finishing up this card, so thought I’d share.  This is a card I designed to showcase at a workshop I am doing this weekend – I hope the attendees have fun with it

SU! Balloon Celebrations, B.Y.O.P

It is a Center Step Easel card – I really like the dimension to it.  I used the Balloon Celebrations set and the B.Y.O.P set for the sentiment.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Occasions Catalog and is called Party Animal.  Lots of fun patterns in that pack of paper.  My base is Real Red, the mats are Pacific Point.  The balloons are stamped and punched out with the center balloon popped up with dimensionals.  The sentiment is also popped up with dimensionals to help hold up the back (the Easel part).  To make the base, here is what you need to do:

  • Start with a piece of cardstock that is 5 1/2 x 12″.
  • With the 5 1/2″ edge against the top of your cutter place the Left Hand edge at the 1″ mark.  Cut from 1″ down to 5 1/8″.
  • Move the Left Hand Edge over to the 4 1/2″ mark.  Cut from the 1″ down to 5 1/8″.
  • Rotate the paper so the 12″ side is against the top of the cutter and the cut lines are to the left.
  • Score from the outside edges to the cut lines at 1″, 2″ and 5 1/8″.
  • Score between the cut lines at 4 1/8″
  • Score all the way across at 8 1/4″

The dotted lines represent the score lines while the solid (represent the cut lines)

  • Mountain fold for the 1″, 4 1/8″, 5 1/8″ and 8 1/4″ score lines.
  • Valley fold for the 2″ score.

I hope you will let me know if you decide to try and make a Center Step Easel Card!

May as Well Dance

Hi!  I had a chance to play with the Beautiful You Stamp set as well as the new Watercolor Pencils yesterday – and I LOVE them!!  So excited for the class I will do in March using these two products.  You can check out my Events page for more details.

Here is the card I made yesterday:

SU! Beautiful You

Isn’t she pretty?  Can’t wait to play with some of the other images in the set.  I kept her simply – colored her with Daffodil Delight for the hat, Calypso Coral for the dress and Bermuda Bay for the little puddle she is in.  I used Blender Pens to blend the pencil.   The sentiment was colored with markers so that I could get Life and Dance in Bermuda Bay and the rest in Basic Black.

A small strip of Designer Paper from the Brights Paper Stack to finish the main panel and there you have it.

You will find these products in my on-line store by clicking on the images below.  Don’t forget for every $50 (US) in merchandise you spend (prior to S/H and tax) you earn 1 FREE Sale-A-Bration award!
