A Little Sparkle – Team Stamp It! Blog Hop

Hi! Welcome to the Team Stamp It! Christmas in July Blog Hop!!  So excited to be hopping with you today!  I just love how this turned out and it is so easy to do!

Lovely As A Tree, LaaT, Star of Light, SU!, Stampin' Up!, Embossing Paste, Glitter, Christmas

Let me show you a close up of the tree – and then explain what I did:

Lovely As A Tree, LaaT, SU!, Stampin' Up!, Christmas, Embossing Paste, Glitter

Do you see all that sparkle?  I added Dazzling Diamond Glitter to the Embossing Paste and then swiped it over my stamped image!  IRL it looks like it is snowing!  With just a thin layer of Embossing Paste, the glitter sticks and looks so pretty!

As you probably guessed, I used Lovely As A Tree for my image.  I colored the tree with Garden Green and the trunk with Chocolate Chip.  Once it dried, I covered the entire layer with the mixture of Dazzling Diamonds and Embossing Paste.  The paste dried in no time!

I layered the image on Basic Black.  I tied silver thread around the top and then layered the panel on a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Be Merry DSP pack.  That was then layered on Silver Foil and finally onto a Garden Green base.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink on a scrap of Whisper White then die cut with the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  This was popped into a banner of Garden Green using the same die.  Lastly, a scrap of SIlver Foil was used again with the same die, cut in half and adhered to the back.

I’d love to know what you think of this card.  I’ll be making some of these for my cards this year as I am just so happy with how it looks!

If Life Gives You Lemons

Hi! How are you today?  I am doing pretty good – it is a gorgeous day!  I have a summery card for you today inspired by Brigitte Keiling.

Lemon Zest, Summer, SU!, Stampin' Up!, Cards, DIY

I loved her colors and layout so had to make my own version.  Doesn’t this just bring a smile to your face?

I did add Clear Wink of Stella to the lemons so they have that sparkle you see when you cut into one.  Here is a better view:

The colors are Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight.  The leaves are stamped in Wild Wasabi.   I had created a mask to sponge my background – makes it very easy for mass production.  I made these cards to put into orders from a recent workshop.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  I forgot to take a picture of the inside – but I did add a layer of Whisper White card stock, stamped the sentiment “Squeeze it for all it’s worth” and added the other half of the cut lemon to the inside bottom left corner.

What do you think?  Ready for an icy cold glass of lemonade?  I sure am!

Fun Fold Time!

Hi! Today I have a fun fold for you!  It’s called the Diagonal Gate Fold!

Fancy Fold, Flower Shop, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, SU!, Stampin' Up!, Technique, Tutorial

Isn’t it cool?  Here it is open:

Fancy Fold, Flower Shop, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, SU!, Stampin' Up!, Technique, Tutorial

Want to know how to do it?  Here is a photo tutorial for you!

Supplies:

  • Base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/4″  (Yes – 8 1/4″!!)
  • Layers: 2 1/2″ x 5 1/8″ (Need 2)
  • Designer Series Paper: 2 1/4″ x 4 7/8″ (Need 2)
  • Whisper White: 2 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ (Need 1 for inside of card)

Step 1:  Score the base piece at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″ on the 8 1/4″ side:

Step 2: Score the base from the top left corner to the bottom of the 2 3/4″ score line:

Step 3:  Slide the paper over and score from the top of the 5 1/2″ score line to the bottom right corner:

When you are done scoring, your base should look like this:

Step 4: Fold back on the diagonal score lines:

Step 5: Fold in on the straight score lines:

Your diagonal lines should meet in the middle.

Step 6: Cut one piece of Designer Series Paper and one layer from the top left to the bottom right corner:

Step 7: Cut the second piece of Designer Series Paper and the second layer from the top right corner to the bottom left corner:

After cutting your layers, you should have this:

Step 8: Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the mat layers with Snail Adhesive

Step 9: Adhere the pieces that were cut from the top right to the bottom left (those on the right in the picture above) to the panels that are under the diagonal flaps:

Step 10: Adhere the pieces that were cut from the top left to the bottom right (those on the left side of the picture above) to the panels on top:

Step 11: Decorate card as desired.  Just make sure when attaching the front images, you only attach to one side of the diagonal flap so that the card can still be opened.  For my card, the flower was adhered to the left panel and the Happy Birthday banner was attached to the right panel.

Step 12: Decorate and adhere the Whisper White panel to the inside of the card:

For my card, I used Flower Shop and coordinating punch for the front.  On the inside, I used the new Happy Birthday Gorgeous set.  So fun!   The colors are Soft Sky, Tranquil Tide and Powder Pink.  The Duo Banner punch was used for the front sentiment.

I’d love to know what you think of the photo tutorial!  And if you give this a try – I’d love to see what you come up with!

Nine Lives

Hi!  Today I am playing along with the Color Challenge over at Global Design Project #GDP097

Pretty Kitty, SU! Stampin' Up!, #GDP097

The colors for the challenge are Berry Burst, Wild Wasabi and Crumb Cake.  I hadn’t played with my Pretty Kitty set in a while and thought it fit the challenge perfectly.

I stamped my image in Basic Black Archival ink and die cut with the Layering Ovals.  The mat behind is Berry Burst cut with the coordinating Stitched Framelits.

To get the different shades of flowers and butterfly, I used a blender pen to pick up my Berry Burst ink and colored as I went until the color was all out of the pen – this allowed for lighter and lighter shades so I could stay with the three colors.  I did use Versa Mark ink to stamp the background butterflies on the Crumb Cake base.  The butterflies are from Sharing Sweet Thoughts – this year’s Ronald McDonald House Charities set.

A little strip of Designer Series Paper from the Color Theory pack as well as some linen thread finishes off the card.

What would you do with these three colors?

Good news! The Daisy Punch is back in stock!!  You can now order your Daisy Bundle here!

Did You See This?

Hi!  Today I have a card featuring the Number of Year’s Stamp Set!  Thanks so much to Esther Howard for this great idea!

Number of Years, SU!, Stampin' Up!

When looking at the set, I wouldn’t have thought to make a card without using a number.   The colors are Pear Pizzazz and Berry Burst.  I stamped the leaves twice without reinking in between to get a more dimensional look to the card.  This card could be used for any occasion and will be one of the cards we make at the August class.  Very quick and easy to reproduce if you are looking for a design.

Hope you like today’s card!

Remarkable You

Hi!  How are you doing?  It has been a busy week for me – traveling the South East looking at colleges with my daughter.   It has been fun!  I hope you are getting time this summer to spend with your loved ones.

Today, I have another card made with the embossing paste I showcased last week.

Remarkable You, Embossing Paste, Pattern Party Masks, SU!, Stampin' Up!

For this card, I used the Pattern Party Decorative masks and tinted my Embossing Paste with Pear Pizzazz ink.  You only need a drop or two from the re-inker.    I mixed the ink and paste together on my silicone mat – easy to clean when I am done and would allow me to mix a few colors at once should I want – might have to try that next time.

The flower and sentiment are from the Remarkable You set.  I used the Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz markers to color the flower then fussy cut it out.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  The triple banner punch was used to cut the ends.

The base layer is Berry Burst – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The Basic Black layer is 4 x 5 1/4″.  The Whisper White panel is 3 3/4 x 5″.

I did use dimensionals on the back of the flower and Snail adhesive on the stem to attach it to the card.

Strawberry Picking

Hi! Today I have another card using the Sharing Sweet Thoughts Ronald McDonald House set.  A great set for a great cause!

Sharing Sweet Thoughts, Eastern Beauty, Wooden Crate, SU! Stampin' Up!

This was another of the cards we made at the class last Friday.  As it was strawberry picking season recently, I had this idea to use the wooden crate as my picking container.  I stamped 4 bunches of strawberries in Basic Black Archival ink so that you could see the red through the slats of the crate and to have strawberries over the top as well.  The strawberries are colored with Garden Green and Real Red.

To make the crate:

  1. Die Cut the Wooden crate – only need the front panel.
  2. Cut off all side panels on the score lines
  3. Create score lines on both the left and right at 1/4″ from the edge
  4. Use Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the crate over the strawberries.

The sentiment is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.  A hint of Garden Green card stock is peeking out behind the stamped panel.

I have decided to extend my offer of donating 4 cards to my local Ronald McDonald House for every set I sell through the end of the month.  Stampin’ Up! will also donate $3 of every set to RMCH.  If you’d like to help, simply purchase the set here.  Hostess code is: 69SWVKDA

Don’t forget while shopping, when you spend $50 (US prior to S/H and tax) you will earn a $5 BONUS DAY coupon good on a purchase in August!

Watercolor Sympathy

Hi.  How are you today?  I hope doing well.  Did you get some crafty time in over the weekend?  I did!  I had a class on Friday night featuring the Sharing Sweet Thoughts RMHC set and then on Saturday I did a workshop for a lovely hostess.  One of the cards I shared with them, was this card on Watercoloring.

Artistically Asian, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Watercoloring, SU!, Stampin' Up!The background is created using an Aquapainter and watercolor paper.  The colors from bottom to top are Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Pool Party.  The image is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink.   I was very happy with how it turned out and the guests just loved it.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink as well.

The base layer is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.  The Crumb Cake layer is 4 x 5 1/4″.  The water color paper is 2 1/2 x 4 1/4″ making the black layer 2 3/4 x 4 1/4″.  I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the image to finish it off.  This is a very quick card and just needs a little drying time – which you can speed up with a heat gun if needed.  I highly recommend letting the watercolor dry completely before stamping the image.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project!  You can find all elements used on this card in my on-line store here.

Don’t forget about Bonus Days!  When you spend $50 (US prior to S/H and tax) you will receive a $5 Bonus Day coupon to use in August!

Want it all?  Take advantage of the Christmas in July special!  Get a $72 Essentials Gift pack when you join by July 31st!  This makes the value of your kit almost $200 in just Stampin’ Up! product alone!   You can join my team here.
