Do You Love Sunsets?

Hi!  I LOVE sunsets – the colors of the sky lately have been gorgeous and I’ve been taking quite a few pictures with my phone.  After a few gorgeous nights, I decided to make a card – here’s my attempt:

Sunset, Friend Like You, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

While I didn’t quite catch all the colors in the sky – and will keep playing with a few other techniques, I am pretty happy with how it came out.

To make the background, I dragged the following ink pads across the paper from bottom to top – masking with a scrap piece where needed:

  • Old Olive
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Cajun Craze

I then stamped the images from the Friend Like You stamp set in Jet Black StazOn ink.    I love the Silhouette look to this stamp set – and if you aren’t in to stamping, there are coordinating dies that you could use instead for the images.

The measurements for the pieces are:

  • Base – Whisper White Thick – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″ and folded in half
  • Basic Black – 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4″

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

A Subtle Fall

Hi!  Today I have a card that I shared in this past week’s Facebook Live featuring the Colorful Seasons stamp set in the Annual Catalog.

Leaves, Fall, Colorful Seasons, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

The leaves on this card are done with the Emboss Resist Technique.  I did change it up a little so that I had a more subtle look to my card by sponging on ink before embossing the leaf, then sponging more ink over the embossed image.  I love fall and feel that this captures the colors near the end of the season.

The background is the Birch stamp and the sentiment is from the Here’s a Card set (a must have in my book!)

This card is the  second one I share in this video:

I’d love to know what you think and if you’ve tried the Emboss Resist technique or not.

Lighthouse

Hi!  Today I have a card for you using the Sail Away Bundle in the Annual Catalog.  I love lighthouses, and couldn’t resist this set.

Sail Away, Lighthouse, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Masculine, #2019AnnualCatalog

The Lighthouse and Wheel were stamped in Gray Granite ink and then watercolored with an AquaPainter and Old Olive, Night of Navy and Gray Granite ink.   I love the soft shading to the light house.

A hole was cut in the Whisper White layer using the Layering Circles Framelits.  A piece of the Sail Away Designer Series Paper was attached behind it.  Gray Granite and Night of Navy Cardstock were used for the base and mat respectively.

  • Base Gray Granite:  4 1/4″ x 11″ – score at 5 1/2″
  • Mat layer Night of Navy – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Top layer Whisper White – 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Circle cut-out – 2 1/2″
  • Designer Series Paper behind cut-out 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

The Come Sail Away trinkets and Baker’s Twine were used to embellish the card.  A great card that could be used for many occasions including sympathy.

Don’t forget, the Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper sale ends on Sept 30.    You’ll find the participating packs in my on-line store.

I Get By

with a little help from my friends.  Ok – did you sing it like I did?  LOL.  Couldn’t help it.  I saw this little guy in the Annual Catalog and he looked like he could use a little help.   Finally had a chance to play with him and wanted to share.

Back on Your Feet, Foil Embossing, Stampin' Up!, SU! #2019AnnualCatalog

Doesn’t he look like he could use a little help getting back on his feet?  I have a friend who underwent a heart transplant last week and thought this little guy might just cheer him up.    The turtle and sentiment are from the Back on Your Feet stamp set.

The background is the Noble Peacock Foil sheet measuring 3 3/4″ x 5″,  embossed with he Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder.  Isn’t that just perfect for this turtle?   Thank you to Gloria Plunkett for the great idea!

The turtle is stamped in Black StaZon ink and colored using Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen.  The Granny Apple Green and Garden Green pencils matched pretty well with the Old Olive Foil.

These are layered on Early Espresso card stock measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The base is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

I Am Over The Moon

to be back!  Sorry for the hiatus, but life was a bit crazy over the summer and I had to take a break from blogging.

Have you seen these cows? I am also Over the Moon for them!!  They are just adorable and so fun to play with!  Here’s a cute treat holder – thank you Kim Quade of Kim Plays with Paper for the adorable idea!

Treat Holder, Over the Moon, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019annualcatalog

And these Cow Tail candies are the perfect treat to go with this adorable guy!  The cow is stamped in Jet Black StaZon ink and the spots are colored with a Basic Black Marker.  To go with the candy, I added Pumpkin Pie for his bell, tail and the little tuft of hair on the top of his head.

The sentiment is stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink on Whisper White card stock and punched with the Classic Label punch.  This is layered on Pumpkin Pie cardstock.   The topper itself is a 3 x 4 1/4″ piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock scored at 2 1/8″ and folded in half.

The treats are placed in a 3″ x 6″ Gusseted Cellophane bag.   These little guys are headed to a craft fair next weekend.
