Happy Birthday Deer

Hi!  How are you!  Hope your weekend is going well!  Today I have a card for you featuring the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set.

Birthday, Masculine, Deer, Natures Beauty, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #Holiday2019

Did you know that for every set sold, Stampin’ Up! is donating $3 to Mental Illness organizations around the world?  Here in the US, the funds raised will support the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI).    During the month of October, I was matching that amount and have decided to continue to match it through the end of the year.   So, if you purchase this set through my on-line store, $6 of your $21 purchase will be donated to NAMI!

Ok – on to the card.  I used Crumb Cake Cardstock for my base.  The trees from the set are stamped in Jet Black Stazon ink.  I used Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Old Olive inks to lightly sponge on color.

For the deer, I once again used Jet Black Stazon ink.  I then used Watercolor Pencils – Early Espresso and Cajun Craze along with a Blender Pen to color him.  A touch of Old Olive for the grass finished off the panel.

The Stitched Nested Label framelits were used to cut the deer and Early Espresso  mat behind it.

The card is finished by stamping the sentiment  from the Here’s A Card Stamp Set in Jet Black Stazon ink.

If you would like to help me reach my goal of raising $75 for NAMI by the end of December, simply click on this link to purchase the Nature’s Beauty stamp set.

Have You Seen Snow?

The temperatures are starting to drop and today’s high will be 32.  While I have yet to see snowflakes (my daughter has), they are not far behind and I know that some areas have already seen the fluffy white stuff.   So, today, I am sharing the first card I made with the Let It Snow suite of products:

Snowman, Christmas, Let It Snow, #Holiday2019, Stampin' Up!, SU!

I love snowmen – they are adorable!  So I couldn’t resist the Let It Snow Suite in the Holiday Catalog.  This year’s snowman set comes with a coordinating snowman builder punch, so you can accessorize as you like

The snowman is stamped with Jet Black StaZon Ink.  His nose is colored with a Pumpkin Pie marker.  The hat is stamped in Jet Black StaZon as well – and is colored with Basic Gray, Garden Green and Real Red markers.  The arms are punched from Soft Suede cardstock.

The “Snowfall” is from the Let it Snow Designer Series Paper Pack and is a great background for him.  This is mounted on a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  The base of the card is our Thick Whisper White.

  • Base:  Whisper White – 4 1/4″ x 11″ – score at  5 1/2″ and fold.
  • Basic Black:  3 3/16″ x 3 3/16″
  • Let it Snow Designer Series Paper: 3″ x 3″

The sentiment is stamped in Coastal Cabana ink.

This is a quick card that would be easy to mass produce if you are looking for a design.  There are at least 2 different “snowfall” patterns in the Let It Snow Designer Series Paper pack that would allow you to make 64 cards similar to this from the suite.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project!

Fun With Masking

Hi!  Sorry I’ve been MIA this past month – I was focused on one aspect of my business and let this one slide – and that just isn’t right.  So, I am back today – and will hopefully do a better job of posting more regularly for you.

Today’s card features masking!  I love to create different size/shape masks using my framelits.

Thanksgiving, Friendship, Gather Together, Masking, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For this one, I started with a 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 piece of cardboard cut from a piece that comes in the Designer Series Paper packs.  Ran this through with the Rectangle Nested Dies.   I then cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock the same size and laid the cardboard over the top.  This allowed me to sponge my background using Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry inks.

I stamped the Wheat from the Gather Together Stamp Set and die cut the leaves from Crushed Curry and Cherry Cobbler card stock.  To get the coloring in the leaves, gently push the die into the coordinating color ink pad prior to laying it on the cardstock.   I also die cut one leaf in Basic Black.

Given that Thanksgiving is approaching at the end of this month, I think this is a perfect Fall Card to let a special someone know how much I appreciate them.

Happy Birthday Remake

Hi!  Today I have an update to a pocket card I shared a while  back.  You can see that one here.

I love pocket cards – so had fun using new product to make this version:

Birthday, Daisy Lane, Pocket Card, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

I was playing with the gorgeous Noble Peacock Designer Specialty Paper and Designer Peacock Foil Papers.  The daisy is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink and punched with Medium Daisy flower.  I also punched a daisy from the Pretty Peacock Foil sheet and from Whisper White cardstock and layered the three together for the flower.

The pocket is made from the Pretty Peacock Specialty Paper.  The base is Whisper White thick.  Besides the Happy Birthday that pulls out of the pocket, the card does open as well so you can write a full message.

I hope you enjoyed my updated version of this card!

Do You Love Sunsets?

Hi!  I LOVE sunsets – the colors of the sky lately have been gorgeous and I’ve been taking quite a few pictures with my phone.  After a few gorgeous nights, I decided to make a card – here’s my attempt:

Sunset, Friend Like You, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

While I didn’t quite catch all the colors in the sky – and will keep playing with a few other techniques, I am pretty happy with how it came out.

To make the background, I dragged the following ink pads across the paper from bottom to top – masking with a scrap piece where needed:

  • Old Olive
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Cajun Craze

I then stamped the images from the Friend Like You stamp set in Jet Black StazOn ink.    I love the Silhouette look to this stamp set – and if you aren’t in to stamping, there are coordinating dies that you could use instead for the images.

The measurements for the pieces are:

  • Base – Whisper White Thick – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″ and folded in half
  • Basic Black – 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4″

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

A Subtle Fall

Hi!  Today I have a card that I shared in this past week’s Facebook Live featuring the Colorful Seasons stamp set in the Annual Catalog.

Leaves, Fall, Colorful Seasons, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

The leaves on this card are done with the Emboss Resist Technique.  I did change it up a little so that I had a more subtle look to my card by sponging on ink before embossing the leaf, then sponging more ink over the embossed image.  I love fall and feel that this captures the colors near the end of the season.

The background is the Birch stamp and the sentiment is from the Here’s a Card set (a must have in my book!)

This card is the  second one I share in this video:

I’d love to know what you think and if you’ve tried the Emboss Resist technique or not.

Lighthouse

Hi!  Today I have a card for you using the Sail Away Bundle in the Annual Catalog.  I love lighthouses, and couldn’t resist this set.

Sail Away, Lighthouse, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Masculine, #2019AnnualCatalog

The Lighthouse and Wheel were stamped in Gray Granite ink and then watercolored with an AquaPainter and Old Olive, Night of Navy and Gray Granite ink.   I love the soft shading to the light house.

A hole was cut in the Whisper White layer using the Layering Circles Framelits.  A piece of the Sail Away Designer Series Paper was attached behind it.  Gray Granite and Night of Navy Cardstock were used for the base and mat respectively.

  • Base Gray Granite:  4 1/4″ x 11″ – score at 5 1/2″
  • Mat layer Night of Navy – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Top layer Whisper White – 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Circle cut-out – 2 1/2″
  • Designer Series Paper behind cut-out 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″

The Come Sail Away trinkets and Baker’s Twine were used to embellish the card.  A great card that could be used for many occasions including sympathy.

Don’t forget, the Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper sale ends on Sept 30.    You’ll find the participating packs in my on-line store.

I Get By

with a little help from my friends.  Ok – did you sing it like I did?  LOL.  Couldn’t help it.  I saw this little guy in the Annual Catalog and he looked like he could use a little help.   Finally had a chance to play with him and wanted to share.

Back on Your Feet, Foil Embossing, Stampin' Up!, SU! #2019AnnualCatalog

Doesn’t he look like he could use a little help getting back on his feet?  I have a friend who underwent a heart transplant last week and thought this little guy might just cheer him up.    The turtle and sentiment are from the Back on Your Feet stamp set.

The background is the Noble Peacock Foil sheet measuring 3 3/4″ x 5″,  embossed with he Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder.  Isn’t that just perfect for this turtle?   Thank you to Gloria Plunkett for the great idea!

The turtle is stamped in Black StaZon ink and colored using Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen.  The Granny Apple Green and Garden Green pencils matched pretty well with the Old Olive Foil.

These are layered on Early Espresso card stock measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The base is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

One Little Bird

Hi!  Today I have a card for you with (GASP) NO stamping!  I know, hard to believe – but I love this Designer Series Paper and decided to use it as my focal point for my card:

Bird Ballad, Tin Tile, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

So pretty!  The different layers you see are a die cut of Whisper White using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  This is under the piece of Whisper White embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  A small strip of Terracotta Tile card stock is layered on top of that.  The final touch is the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper die cut with a Stitched Shape Circle framelit.  A small bow using Linen Thread finishes off the card.

There is plenty of room to add a sentiment from Hello to Thinking of You to Birthday.  I love how this turned out and the pairing of the different layers.

One quick point today – did you know, if you purchase any of the Embossing Folders in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, you will need the following plate to make them work with the old Big Shot.  As Stampin’ Up! moves to a new die cutting system (TBD), the embossing folders are thinner than the old ones – so this additional plate will allow you to use the new folders with the retired Big Shot machine.  You’ll find it here in my on-line store.

Just a few days left to earn your Bonus Days Coupons!  Spend $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) and earn a $5 coupon to use in August!  Earning period ends July 31st! So hop on over to my store today!
