Gearing Up

Hi!  Today I have a card to share featuring the Geared Up Garage suite from the Occasions Catalog.  With Father’s Day fast approaching, thought you might need a little inspiration.

Masculine, Geared Up Garage, #2019Occasions, Stampin' Up!, SU!

This card uses a fun technique called Tarnished Foil.  And it is so easy!  Simply drag your Jet Black StaZOn pad over your Champagne Foil before you run it through your Big Shot with the gear die from Geared Up Garage suite!

For this particular card, I die cut 2 sets of gears.  These are attached to the retiring In Color, Tranquil Tide.  I had the top set over hang the edge of the Tranquil Tide layer (which was first embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder), and just trimmed it off with Paper Snips.  I then took that piece that was trimmed and adhered it to the edge of the sentiment panel.

The Tranquil Tide top layer was mounted on a piece of Gray Granite Card stock (I LOVE this color!).  The sentiment is inked in Jet Black StaZon and stamped on Gray Granite as well.

The base is Tranquil Tide – 5 1/2″  x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half.

Don’t forget, just a few more days to get your favorites from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog and the 2019 Occasions Catalog!

Coffee with a Twist

Hi!  How are you today?  I hope doing well!  Today I have a card featuring the retiring Coffee Cafe stamp set and coordinating dies.  I had seen this background technique a while ago but hadn’t gotten around to trying it just recently and loved it!  So easy and so fun!  Just imagine the different colors you could do.

Coffee, Coffee Cafe, Friends, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For this background, I dragged the edge of Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso inkpads back and forth across a piece of Whisper White card stock.  That’s all there is to it!

The sentiment and cup outline are stamped in Early Espresso ink on Pear Pizzazz card stock.  The straw and foam are stamped in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White cardstock.  The coordinating dies are used to cut out all the pieces.

The background is matted on Early Espresso card stock and the base is thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half.

I am sad to see this set go – it is a great set for many occasions.  If you haven’t added it to your collection yet, click on the product link below to get to my store and get it before it is gone.  June 3rd is your last chance!

Falling Flowers

Hi!  Back today with a set of cards I made featuring the retiring Falling Flowers, coordinating dies, and the retiring In Colors 2017-2019.

Falling Flowers, In Colors 2017-2019, Stampin' Up!, Thank You

I just love these colors paired with Gray Granite.  I think Gray Granite is my new favorite Neutral color.  I’ve used it so much lately.  For today’s cards, I used the retiring In Color 2017-2019 collection – Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig.  I tried to add Lemon Lime for the leaves, but really didn’t like it – so I switched to staying with just the one In Color on each card as my pop of color on Gray Granite.

The flowers are all embossed in Clear Embossing powder on Whisper White Card stock.  For the large flower, I first colored them by picked up ink with the Aqua Painter and watercoloring.  Then I went over each of the flowers using a brayer and the same ink color – this allowed for a lighter shade of the ink on the outside of the flowers.  For the medium sized flower, I brayered ink on first, then used a clean AquaPainter to remove some of the ink.  In this way, I have a darker outside to a lighter petal color.  For the smallest flowers, I colored with the marker then did a quick brayer over each.

Here is a closer view of the Tranquil Tide card:

Falling Flowers, Thank You, Thankful Thoughts, In Color 2017-2019, Stampin' Up!

I love how you can obtain different looks and shades using one ink pad.

To finish off the card, I stamped the leaves in Gray Granite in the top left.  I also used the Gray Granite marker and flecked each card.

The sentiment is stamped in the same In Color Ink used in the flowers on Gray Granite card stock then punched with the Classic Label punch.  This is layered on a Classic Label punch out of the same In Color that is cut in half.  The small flowers and the sentiment are attached using dimensionals.

I am sad to see this stamp set and die set leaving -these flowers are so pretty.  If you don’t have them yet, hurry before the are gone for good!  Just click on the product below to go to my on-line store and place your order.  Don’t forget to get your re-inker and card stock for those retiring colors as well!

Butterfly Notes

Hi!  How are you today?  Hope you are doing well!  Today I have a very quick card for you featuring our Note Cards and Envelopes:

Thanks, Note Cards, Butterflies, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019Occasions

I used the Stamparatus to align the butterfly from Butterfly Gala and stamped in StaZon Jet Black ink.  They are then colored with Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam markers for a subtle look.  To add interest to the card, I used the Simply Scored board to score 3 lines about 3/4″ from the bottom.   The sentiment is from Beauty Abounds and also stamped in StaZon Jet Black ink.

While this is a very quick and simple card, it is still very pretty and the note card size – perfect for a quick thank you.  If you haven’t tried our Note Cards and Envelopes – perhaps this will inspire you to do so.

Hello, Hello, Hello!

Hi!  Had a little fun yesterday playing with the Calligraphy Essentials stamp set and heat embossing!

Calligraphy Essentials, Hello, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Heat Emboss

I stamped the Hello from in Versamark on a piece of Vellum Cardstock, sprinkled White Embossing Powder and heat set with the heat tool.  I then flipped the vellum over, and sponged Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay ink on the back.   A fun and quick technique.

The vellum is mounted on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The base is Poppy Parade and I used a scrap of Designers Series Paper from the Painted Seasons Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Pack.  The rhinestones are colored with Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends.

A Little More Traditional

Hi!  As promised, today I have a little more traditional color combination using the Incredible Like You stamp set.  Maybe this one will appeal to you more.

Friends, Incredible Like You, #DIstINKtiveStamps, #2019Occasions, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For these two cards, I used Garden Green and Crushed Curry as my color scheme.  Still love the look of the DistINKtive stamps as it really makes it easy to show the details of the flowers without having to figure out my own color combination.

I did demonstrate how I made the card on the left in this video:

I colored the rhinestones with the Dark Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends to place around the sentiment.  I think it adds a nice touch.

I do like how the “So Glad we Are Friends” card turned out – that I made 20 of them with a different sentiment for my Mother-in-Law to use as she recovers from surgery.  Here they are:

Thank You, Incredible Like You, #DistINKtivestamps, #simplestamping, #2019Occasions, Stampin' Up!, SU!

If my Crumb Cake card using this set didn’t inspire you, perhaps these cards will.

If you have other color combinations you’d like to suggest, let me know!  I see myself using this set quite a bit!

A Little Spring

Spring, Bunny, Fabled Friends, Painted Seasons DSP, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019SaleABration, #2019Occasions

I love the Sale-A-Bration Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper – so pretty and can be used with so many stamp sets!   For this card, I paired the paper with the bunny from Fable Friends Stamp Set found in the Occasions Catalog.  He is colored using our Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  Just adorable!

I also colored three Rhinestones using the Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends for just a touch of bling in the corner.  The base of the card and layers are Poppy Parade.

I have a few little great nieces and nephews and might make a few to send their way for Easter.

Yes or No?

Hi! I have a card to share with you that is a little out of the norm.  I did share how I made it on a recent Facebook Live and some liked it and some maybe didn’t.

I do like the color combination of Blueberry Bushel and Granny Apple Green – just not sure Crumb Cake is the best color for the background.

This card features the Incredible Like You stamp set.  Do you love the detail in the flower?  While this is a 2-Step Stamping set – it is also a DistINKtive stamp set which allows for one ink color to take on different shades as seen in the leaves and main flower above.  I LOVE this look!

To give the card a little more flair, I added a touch of white at the base of the small flowers using the Chalk Marker.

So, what do you think?  Like it? Yes or no?  Be honest – (but kind, please).

I’ll have a more traditional card using this set a little later in the week.

Fly Fishing Anyone?

Hi! Today I have another card featuring the Best Catch bundle from the Occasions Catalog.

Masculine, Fishing, Best Catch, #2019Occasions, Stampin' Up!, SU!

Love how this card turned out – and it is a pocket card – so you can tuck a little gift card or your note right there.

For this card, I sponged Balmy Blue and So Saffron ink on pieces of Designer Series Paper from the Wood Textures pack.  The fisherman is stamped  in StazOn Jet Black ink.   The base of the card is Balmy Blue.  A little burlap ribbon to finish it off.

For the base, start with a piece of Balmy Blue measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  Score at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ edge.  Slide the score line to the 2″ mark and cut (this allows you to create the pocket).  From the same sheet of Designer Series Paper, cut one piece 5 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ and another 5 1/4″ x 1 3/4″.  Save a scrap for the sentiment.  On the larger piece, sponge Balmy Blue on the bottom and So Saffron on the top to create the water and sunset.  Then stamp the fisherman.  On the smaller piece, sponge Balmy Blue on the top and Old Olive on the bottom (hard to see in this picture given the ribbon).  Use the envelope punch board to round all the corners.  Attach the top piece to the Balmy Blue base.  Use Tear & Tape on just the two sides of the lower flap and adhere to make the pocket.  Wrap the ribbon around the Designer Series Paper before attaching to the front of the pocket.  Add your sentiment and done!

Don’t forget, Sale-A-Bration ends this month!  So take advantage and earn your FREE goodies today!  Shop my on-line store here.  Use Host Code: 9DY7KYRM  and earn a FREE tutorial featuring the Beauty Abounds bundle!
