Throw Back Thursday – Halloween Style

Hi!  Today I am showcasing a treat pouch made using some retired Halloween Products.  I am working on some goodies for a craft fair and decided it would be good to use up some retired Designer Series Paper I had laying around.

Diaper Fold, Halloween Treat Pouch, Cookie Cutter Halloween, Stampin' Up! SU!

These little guys are from the Cookie Cutter Halloween Set from a year or two ago.  I loved this set – they are just adorable.  The diaper fold pouch uses a 6×6 piece of Designer Series Paper and is pretty easy to put together.  These little guys will hold a mini candy bar – perfect for giving coworkers, friends and neighbors.

Here’s a closer look:

Cookie Cutter Halloween, Stampin' Up!, Treat Pouch

I’ll be updating this pouch to current product on Sept 10th’s Facebook Live – where I’ll also show you how to make it!  Hope you’ll join me at 7:30pm EST over here.

I hope you enjoyed today’s little Throwback post.

Cheers!

Hi!  This past Saturday was the Team Stamp It! Happy New Year blog hop. I  couldn’t get my project done in time to participate, but finally had a chance today to sit down and make the card I had planned.  SU! Here's to Cheers, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Just realized my picture doesn’t capture the sparkly bottle and glasses – I had colored the stamp with Wink of Stella Gold – so in real life – more sparkly like champagne. The image is from Here’s To Cheers in the Holiday Catalog – a very versatile set that can be used for more than just tags!  I could easily see this image on a wedding or anniversary card as well.   I thought the Softly Falling embossing folder added a bubbly look.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes – still one of my favorite sentiment sets.

So, while it is a little early – I hope you enjoyed my Happy New Year card.

A Country Snowman

Hi!  Today I have a card for you that I did for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches #267   The idea of doing a country snowman hit me – not sure I achieved it – but here is my attempt:

SU! Christmas Magic

I thought I had some plaid Designer Series Paper – but alas, I didn’t – so I went with the burlap ribbon instead.  While it wasn’t quite what I had pictured, I think it came out cute.

The snowman is from the Christmas Magic stamp set found in the Holiday catalog and is embossed on Crumb Cake card stock using White Embossing powder.  I think the little bit of Cherry Cobbler helps him pop on the card.

Just a reminder, if you didn’t place your order yet for your favorites in the Holiday Catalog – better do so soon – the catalog ends on January 3rd.  You can find all kinds of great deals on retiring products and more in Stampin’ Up!’s Year End Closeout Sale in my online store here.

If friends and family are still trying to find the perfect gift for you, tell them to consider a Stampin’ Up! Gift Certificate from me (good in the USA only).  With the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration kicking off on January 4th – its the perfect gift!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed today’s card.

Tarnished Trees

nov2016header

Hi!  Today I am playing along with the Team Stamp It Christmas Blog Hop!  I saw this technique by Jackie Bultje and just loved it – so had to give it a try.  It is called Tarnished Foil.

SU! Tin of Tags, Woodland TIEF

Love, love, love it!!  Is this not just gorgeous? Here is how you do it:

  1. Wrap a piece of foil around a piece of card stock.
  2. Wipe Jet Black Sta-Z-On ink over the foil randomly
  3. Wipe VersaMark over the inside front of the Woodland Embossing folder.
  4. Place your foil sheet in the folder with the foil facing front.
  5. Run through the Big Shot
  6. Sprinkle Gold Embossing Powder over the foil.
  7. Tap off excess powder and put back in container.
  8. Over a scrap sheet of paper, use a clean paint brush and brush off the embossing powder that is on just the trees.  Discard the scrap into trash (you do not want to save this embossing powder as it is mixed with versamark and thus clumpy.)
  9. Heat set the embossing powder with the heat gun.
  10. If you do not have enough Sta-Z-On showing on your trees – apply more using a sponge dauber.
  11. Finish card as desired.

The sentiment is from the Tin of Tags set – a great set to have – even if not making tags – and embossed in Gold on Basic Black card stock.  Layering Circle framelits were used to die cut the sentiment.  A piece of Real Red woven satin ribbon finishes it off.  You could mass produce this card in batches of 5 (I wouldn’t do more than 5 at a time for the Versamark steps just to make sure the Gold Embossing Powder doesn’t flake off).

I’d love to know what you think!  Leave a comment below using #stampitcontest and you could win this great prize!

Holly Box

Hi!  How are you today?  I have been working on some packaging for Christmas gifts and made this box.

SU! Oh What Fun, Holly Berry Happiness

This box is about 4x4x2 in size when finished and would hold note cards, tea lights, chocolates, tags, a pair of socks, jewelry and all sorts of items.

Here are the directions for the box:

Base: 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 Card Stock

  1. Score at 2 1/16″ on all 4 sides
  2. Snip the score lines on two opposite sides to create tabs
  3. Fold on all score lines using Bone Folder.
  4. Use Tear & Tape on the tabs and assemble the base.

Lid: 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 Designer Series Paper

  1. Score at 1″ on all 4 sides
  2. Snip the score lines on two opposite sides to create tabs.
  3. Fold on all score lines using Bone Folder.
  4. Use Tear & Tape on the tabs and assemble the lid

Belly band: 3/4″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper

  1. Wrap belly band around the box so the two ends are on the top
  2. Place Tear & Tape on the ends that are facing up
  3. Adhere a 3″ Scallop Circle over the two ends
  4. Decorate as desired

I decorated my Belly Band with a sentiment from the Oh What Fun stamp set and the Holly Berry Happiness bundle.  These are pretty quick and easy – I hope you’ll give it a try.

Stitched Snowman

Hi!  My Stitched Shapes Framelits finally arrived and I couldn’t wait to play!

SU! Christmas Magic, Stitched Shapes

Is this not just the cutest?  I love the added dimension from the Stitched Oval framelit.  Also, these ovals DO coordinate with the Layered Ovals thinlets as shown in the picture.  Isn’t this little snowman from the Christmas Magic stamp set adorable?  He is stamped with Jet Black Sta-Z-On ink and colored with markers.  While I forgot to capture a closer picture of him, I did use Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen to color his body and the ground and add some sparkle.   To complete my card, I embossed the background white panel with the Softly Falling Embossing folder.  As you can see – still on my Stamps, Paper, and Ink kick.

CASE’ing on the Fly

Hi!  Today, I have a card for you that I CASE’d (Copy and Selectively Edit -or- Copy and Share Everything) from Stampin’ on the Fly – Jennifer Timko.   You can see her card here.

Here is my take on her card:

SU! Merry Tags, Holly Berry Happiness

I love the simplicity of this card and think it makes it elegant.  And – it is super quick and easy to make – so making multiples will be a snap!  The ornaments are die cut using the Merry Tags framelits and the sentiment is from Holly Berry Happiness and is embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  The ornament is popped up on dimensionals to give the card some depth.

What do you think?  Too plain or just right?

Merry Christmas Poinsettia

Hi! Today I have a poinsettia card (ok, two), but I am not sure if I like how they turned out.

SU! Reason for the Season, Holly Berry Happiness, Tin of Cards

I had this idea in my head from a card I had done a while back – but for some reason, this one isn’t turning out the way I hoped it would.  What do you think?  What would you change?  I’m open for ideas.

The outline of the poinsettia was stamped in Basic Black Archival ink, then I stamped the flower petals in Real Red and finally the leaves in Garden Green.  The sentiment is from the same set.  The holly on the right card is from the Holly Berry Happiness set.  The swirls are from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

I’ll keep playing with it and hope to get some ideas on what else to try.

A Little Nugget

Cake for you!  I had seen the Nugget Cake tutorial on Splitcoaststampers recently and thought this would be perfect for Halloween!  I have a few friends who love this holiday and thought this would be the perfect treat.

SU! Halloween Scenes Thinlets, Halloween Night DSP The hardest part was finding round containers to use to support the cake – but I did – and they were all from Stampin’ Up! products!  For the top layer, I used the lid of an empty Embossing Powder container, the middle layer uses an empty button container and the bottom layer uses two empty ribbon rolls.  Great way to recycle those empty containers!

The Designer Series Paper used to wrap around the nuggets is from the Halloween Nights Specialty paper – great way to use up scraps as each nugget is wrapped in a 1″ x 3″ piece of DSP.  All the embellishments were die cut with the Halloween Scenes Framelits.  I used a retired brad and the retired Circle Framelits for the cake topper as well as the separate layers.

So happy I gave this tutorial a try – what fun to make and I think the recipient will be very happy!
