Kindness Matters

Hello!  How are you?  I hope you are doing well.  I have the opportunity to teach a card class  tonight and will share this card with them to showcase how stunning a one layer card can be.

Quiet Meadow, Timeless Arrangements, Blending, Thanks, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2023AnnualCatalog

The card base is Thick Basic White measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded.

I created a template using the retired Stitched Rectangle Dies die cut from a piece of cardboard found in a package of Designer Series Paper.  The cardboard is cut to the size of the card front – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ – to make it easy to place and one of the rectangle dies is used to make the opening in the template.   Place the template over the card front and use the Blending Brushes to brush on Old Olive ink at the bottom, Daffodil Delight in the middle and Balmy Blue on top.  Remove the template and stamp the flowers from Quiet Meadow in Memento Black ink.

The sentiment is from the new Timeless Arrangements – I love the font and sentiments in this set.  It is also stamped in Memento Black ink.  To finish the card, place 3 brass butterflies around the sentiment.

I do not often make single layer cards – but creating a template from any of our larger dies and sponging color on the card front, brings such depth and dimension that more layers are not needed.

Have you tried this technique before?  Leave a comment below and let me know!

What To Do With Scraps

Hi!  As promised, I am back today with my second card featuring the Biggest Wish stamp set.

If you are like me and save even 1/2″ scraps of our gorgeous Designer Series Paper, then I have a card for you!

Scraps, Deisgn Series Paper, Biggest Wish, Thanks, Stampin' Up!,, SU!, #22-23AnnualCatalog

I love the pop of bright colors from the Flowers & More Designer Series Paper (host item in the January-April Mini 2023).  To create the panel, cut a piece of Basic Black card stock, 4″ x 2 1/4″ and grab coordinating strips of DSP that are 1/2″ wide.  Adhere the strips at an angle on the Basic Black card stock leaving a small gap between each strip.  Use your Paper Trimmer to cut off the strips that overhang the Basic Black.

The base of this card is Polished Pink – one of our retiring In Colors, cut at 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at 5 1/2″ and folded.   The Basic Black panel is adhered in the middle of the card.

Emboss two pieces of Basic White card stock measuring 1 3/4″ x 4″ with the Thanks folder from the Thanks & Hello pack.  I moved each piece to a different area to get different languages on each piece.  Attach these to the card front using dimensionals.

The FRIEND is stamped in Polished Pink and then thanks is stamped in Blackberry Bliss overlapping slightly at the top.  A Stitched Rectangle die is used to die cut the sentiment.  Please note that I moved the die over and cut a second time to fit around the sentiment.

What do you think of today’s card?   Check back tomorrow – I’ll have my 3rd and final card with this set.

Looking for Something Different?

Hi!  How are you today?  Hard to believe that Sale-A-Bration is over and that March is here.  Where did the time go?

If you are looking for a set that makes an impact with the sentiment, look no further than the Biggest Wish set.  I am not sure why I waited so long to pull this one out and play with it – but I am in LOVE!  The two different fonts for the words makes it easy to mix and match. Over the next few days, I will share 3 different cards made using this set.

Biggest Wish, Hello, Friendship, Regency Park DSP, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanAprilMini2023

First up is this card featuring the Regency Park Designer Series Paper and generational stamping.  If you haven’t tried generational stamping before, what you do is ink up your stamp and stamp it multiple times without re-inking.  You can see that the HELLO is lighter and lighter as I stamp up the card.  This is a great way to achieve an ombre look as well.

The base of the card is Night of Navy, 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and folded.  A piece of Basic White measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″ is stamped on the right hand side and a piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ is adhered on the left.  A piece of Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon runs over the edge of DSP.    The inks are Mango Melody and Night of Navy.  A few Adhesive Backed Milky Dots completes the card.

I’ll be back with card number 2 tomorrow.

If you haven’t heard the news, Stampin’ Up! released new products in the on-line store under On-Line Exclusives – you will not find these products in any catalog, so make sure you swing over to my store to check them out.  I’ll be sharing a few projects made with the Hello, Irresistible bundle on my March 7 Facebook Live.

Fancy Fold with DSP

Hi!  How are you today?  We are winding down with Sale-A-Bration – as it ends on August 31, so I wanted to share with you one last card featuring the Wonderful World Bundle.

This one uses both the Designer  Series Paper and the coordinating Stamp set that you get in the bundle.  You still have time to earn this bundle FREE with a $100 purchase (US, prior to S/H and tax) in my on-line store.

Wonderful World, Very Best Occasions, Stampin' Up!, DSP, SU!, #SAB2022

Ok, so I did say that this was a Fancy Fold. what makes it that?  The Designer Series Paper is actually  4″ x 12″, so when you open the card, here is what you see!

Wonderful World, DSP, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #SAB2022, Fancy Fold

Isn’t that pretty?  Now you don’t  have to worry about which side of the paper to showcase!  This card showcases both!  You could use the entire pack to make 36 cards (you would just have to forgo the strip inside the card).

Here’s what you need:

  • Base – Mossy Meadow – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 12″, score at 5 1/4″ and 10 1/2″ – fold down on the first score and up on the second.
  • Inside – Basic White – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Strip (optional) – 1/2″ x 5 1/4″

Attach the back flap of the Designer Series Paper to the Base Mossy Meadow.  Adhere the bottom flap of the Designer Series Paper to the front using Seal adhesive.  Wrap the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Thread (on the Clearance Rack for $2.80!) around the front and tie in a knot.

Use the Stampin’ Write Markers – Melon Mambo and Mossy Meadow, to ink the flower right on the stamp, and then stamp on a scrap of Basic White.  Die cut with the Stylish Shapes circle die.  Stamp the sentiment from Very Best Occasions (found in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog) in StaZon Jet Black ink over the flower.   Attach the circle to the card front using dimensionals.

I highly recommend the Very Best Occasions Stamp Set – the sentiments are prefect for card fronts – or insides, and covers Birthday, Christmas, Sympathy, Thinking of You, Thank You and just because.  I love when a sentiment set covers many different purposes.   With 3 kids out of the house, the sentiment above will be getting lots of use this coming year.

No Ink Required

Hi!  How are you today?  I hope today is a good day!  I’ve had a chance to play with the Wonderful World Sale-a-Bration Bundle – which you can earn FREE through August 31 with a $100 purchase (US, prior to S/H and tax).

I wanted to share how easy it is to make a card using the pretty Designer Series Paper in this bundle – with no stamping required.  (You could, tho, if you wanted to add a sentiment).

Wonderful World DSP, 2022SAB2, Stampin' Up!, SU!

The flowers in this Designer Series Paper are perfect for use on their own.  For this card, I punched 3 of the flowers using the Postage Stamp punch.  The layers for the card are:

  • Base – Thick Basic White – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded.
  • Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4″, run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss with the Stripes and Splatters 3D Embossing Folder (just the top of the piece.
  • Wonderful World 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper – 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″

I am using  Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim which is on the Clearance Rack for just $2.80, behind the punched flowers.  As I said, it was quick to put together and required no stamping.

I hope this helps you take a look at your Designer Series Paper in a whole new light!

You have until August 31 to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration.  Shop my on-line store  with Host Code ATHJQUSR to grab your FREE items!  I am also doubling down through August 29th.  You can get a FREE, new in package, stamp set or bundle when you place a $50 or $100 order using the host code above.   Link to store: https://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=ATHJQUSR

Wonderful Watercolors

Hi!  As I mentioned previously, it is National Watercoloring Month!  One of my favorites techniques is the Watercolor Wash – it is fun, easy to do, and every card looks a little bit different.  I shared this technique at a recent workshop I did and so today, am sharing it with you.

Quiet Meadow, Charming Sentiments, Watercolor Wash, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #watercoloring

To create the background, add a few drops of reinker to the lid of its coordinating ink pad.  Use a Watercolor Brush to pick up the ink and paint it onto Watercolor Paper measuring 3 3/4″ x 5″.  My colors here are all from the 2022-2024 In Colors and start from the top – Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and Starry Night.   Set aside to dry.

For the flowers, die cut a piece of Watercolor paper using the Meadow Dies.  Using the same technique as above, add color for the flowers and stem.  Set aside to dry.  Die-cut the same flower from a piece of Basic Black cardstock as well.

On a scrap piece of Basic White, stamp a sentiment in Orchid Oasis ink from the Charming Sentiments stamp set.  Die cut with the coordinating die.  I truly LOVE this bundle.  I do not have an electric die-cutting machine, and have loved the look of the die-cut sentiments so was super excited when I saw this bundle in the new catalog.

The base of this card is Orchid Oasis – cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and folded.  A piece of Basic Black measuring 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ is adhered on front.

Tie a piece of the glittered Orchid Oasis ribbon around the Watercolor paper and adhere to the Basic Black mat.

You can give the flower a little bit of sparkle with the Wink Of Stella glitter brush as seen in the picture above.  (It shimmers a bit more in real life).  Attach the watercolor flower to the die cut Basic Black – shifting it slightly so that you can see just a bit of the Basic Black flower behind it.

Tuck the flower stem behind the ribbon and attach to the Watercolor background.  Use dimensionals to attach the sentiment over the ribbon.  Finish the card by adding a few of the 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots.

If you are like me and love the look of watercolor, I hope you’ll give this technique a try.

You’ll find all the supplies to make this card in my on-line store – simply click on any of the products below and you will get there.  Don’t forget that we are also Sale-A-Brating and you earn FREE products when your purchase is $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax).

Just Because, Friendship. Under My Umbrella, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2020AnnualCatalog

The images for this card are from the Under My Umbrella stamp set.  The set along with the coordinating Umbrella Builder punch are both leaving us on May 3.    I die cut squares using the two largest stitched squares from the Stitched Shapes Dies (also retiring on May 3).

The boots and flowers are stamped with Black Memento Ink and colored with the following Stampin’ Blends:  Real Red, Pool Party, Old Olive and So Saffron.

I did mention the card is interactive – if you pull on the ribbon, the boots flip open to reveal this:
