Hello! How are you? I hope you are doing well. I have the opportunity to teach a card class tonight and will share this card with them to showcase how stunning a one layer card can be.
The card base is Thick Basic White measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded.
I created a template using the retired Stitched Rectangle Dies die cut from a piece of cardboard found in a package of Designer Series Paper. The cardboard is cut to the size of the card front – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ – to make it easy to place and one of the rectangle dies is used to make the opening in the template. Place the template over the card front and use the Blending Brushes to brush on Old Olive ink at the bottom, Daffodil Delight in the middle and Balmy Blue on top. Remove the template and stamp the flowers from Quiet Meadow in Memento Black ink.
The sentiment is from the new Timeless Arrangements – I love the font and sentiments in this set. It is also stamped in Memento Black ink. To finish the card, place 3 brass butterflies around the sentiment.
I do not often make single layer cards – but creating a template from any of our larger dies and sponging color on the card front, brings such depth and dimension that more layers are not needed.
