Autumn Harvest

Hi!  Today I have a card using the new Autumn Goodness bundle from the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog.   What says fall more than this autumn harvest?

Fall, Autumn Goodness, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #AugDec2020MiniCatalog

I love coloring with our Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen – so fun and easy to do.  The harvest image is stamped in Soft Suede ink.  You could also go with a lighter ink color for a softer look.  I used a mix of both the Watercolor Pencils and Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2.

The Wheelbarrow is stamped with Early Espresso ink and then I used a blender pen to color in the image – this allowed me to pull the ink from the stamped image giving it a deeper wood grain look.

For the background, I just dragged an Old Olive and Balmy Blue ink pad over the cardstock.  A very quick way to produce a background.  The fence is die cut from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The base is Crumb Cake cardstock – measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and folded in half.  The image panel is Whisper White – 3 3/4″ x 5″ mounted on an Early Espresso mat measuring 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.

If you want to see how I colored and created the background, check out this video:

Hi!  How are you?   Today I have a card I made with the Back On Your Feet stamp set from the 2020 Annual Catalog.  This is such a great set for those who need a pick me up going through a hard time.

Back On Your Feet, Get Well, Pick Me Up, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2020AnnualCatalog

I tried out the 2019-2021 Rococo Rose In Color – a color I haven’t played with much tho I’ve had it since it came out.  I do like the soft look of it – so I’ll be using it a bit more.

The sloth is colored using Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends marker and the limb with Old Olive and Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends.  The bandage is Rococo Rose.  I don’t have color with the Stampin’ Blends – I’m not that good – but I am pretty happy with how this turned out.

The background is created using the Old World Paper Embossing Folder – I really like the texture it gives to the card.  The leaves are from the Birds and More Die Set.

The sentiment banner is created with the new Banner Pick-A-Punch in the August-December Mini Catalog.

Don’t forget August is Redeem Your Bonus Day Coupon month!  You can redeem them in my On-Line store by clicking the Shop button on the right.

A Day Without Chocolate

Have you ever heard of such a thing?  Yeah, me either!  Lol!  I admit, I love chocolate – and probably have a little every day.  When I saw this bundle in the Annual Catalog, I knew I had to get it!  Here is the first card I made with it:

The Nothing’s Better Than bundle is so much fun!  Whether you prefer chocolate, coffee, cocktails or cookies – it covers it all.   The sentiments in this set are cute, whimisical and sometimes, right on point.     I can see using this set quite a bit.

For this card in particular, I did a watercolor wash with Pool Party for my background.  It is very easy to do if you’ve never tried it.  Just put a drop or two of ink from a reinker into the lid of the coordinating ink pad or on a plastic lid or clear block and pick it up with your AquaPainter.  Then brush it over your cardstock.

This is a two-step stamping set, so the outside of the chocolates are stamped with Jet Black StaZon and the insides with Early Espresso for dark chocolate and Soft Suede for milk chocolate.  The word chocolate is die cut with the coordinating die set.  The remaining sentiment is stamped with Pool Party ink.

To finish off the card, a few of the Artistry Blooms sequins are added.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.

Ready For Fall?

Hi!  Today is the start of a new week and I hope the beginning of a good one for you.  As most people who have followed me for a while know, fall is my favorite time of year.  I know its still a little ways off, but I couldn’t resist pulling out the Rooted In Nature stamp set and dies for this card.

Rooted in Nature, Fall, Thank You, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2020AnnualCatalog

I love the colors for this card – Terracotta Tile, Pear Pizzazz and Gray Granite.  The fun in this card comes from the two leaves at the top – this is the Faux Suede technique.  It is very easy, you simply take a bone folder to break the fibers in your card stock and separate the cardstock into 2 layers.   Here’s the video for that – the technique starts at around 9:30:

The sentiment is from the Free as a Bird stamp set.  The card is finished off with the Braided Linen Trim.

I hope you give this technique a try – and see how a little bit of dimension can be added to spice up your card.

Just a reminder, Bonus Days Redemption is this month.  If you earned $5 coupons during July, you have until August 31 to redeem them.  Also, if you live in a state offering a tax free weekend today, there are Stampin’ Up! products that qualify as follows:

Sending Sunshine

Hi!  Today I am sharing with you the cards I made using the June Paper Pumpkin Kit!  I LOVE this kit – and it is a great way to send a little happiness and brighten someone’s day.

Paper Pumpkin, Sunshine, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #SendingSunshine, #PaperPumpkin

The kit came with the colored card bases, the die cut lemons and leaves, the black polka dot paper, blank sentiment pieces and the sequins.   The sentiment was part of the stamp set as well.  The ink spot for this kit was Basic Black.  The only stamping for this card is the sentiment.

Have you heard of Paper Pumpkin?  No?  Well, let me give you some details.  Paper Pumpkin is a monthly kit that is delivered right to your door!  The cost of the kit is $22 plus tax.   Shipping is already included in the price!    The Kit comes complete with stamp set, ink spot, adhesives (dimensionals or glue dots), embellishments and the consumables to create the project.  Some times it will be a card kit – like June’s and sometimes it may be treat packaging or a home decor item.   You just don’t know!  Tho I can give you hints if you like!

What else?  There is ZERO obligation to continue your subscription – you can drop at any time!  Or, if you need a break, you can suspend your subscription for a month.   I have a few subscribers who prefer card kits only – so I give them a heads up when I see a kit coming out that may not be cards (or one that is a mix of cards and treat holders) so they can decide if they want to get it or suspend their account for that month.

AND, wait there’s more!  Each month I host a Paper Pumpkin Zoom Party!  We get together on the last Thursday of the month and work on putting together Paper Pumpkin kits – either the current one that just arrived, or a past one from the pile.  It is a fun night and it is FREE to just chat and create with Paper Pumpkin.

Here is another  card from the June Kit:

For this one, I stamped the Sun, dashed lines and the sentiment.  This kit came with plenty of extra pieces, so I can make a few more cards by just adding card stock for the bases.  A very good deal for just $22 a month!

If you are not a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, I encourage you to try it out!  Here’s a link to sign-up:

If you subscribe by August 10, you’ll be able to get the World’s Greatest Kit which is a card kit.  Watch this video for a glimpse into the August Kit:

It’s as Easy As This

Hi!  How are you?  Sorry I’ve been MIA for the past 6-7 weeks.  Life threw some curve balls and I had to let my blog sit during that time.  Well, I am back and I wanted to catch you up with some of the cards I’ve been making.

This first one – while it looks complicated, is so easy to do!  Thanks to Sandy’s Craft Studio for this fun Angle-Cut Designer Series Paper technique.

Angle Cut DSP, Ornate Garden, Friendship, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2020AnnualCatalog

Does this angle cut Designer Series Paper look hard?  Well, I’m here to show you how easy it is to make 4 cards from one piece of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper.   For this card, I used the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment is from Lovely You and the flowers from Daisy Lane.

Start with a 6″ x 6″ piece of your favorite DSP and a 6 1/4″ x 6 1/4″ of coordinating cardstock.

For the DSP, make a small mark at 1 1/2″ on all 4 sides.   Then, watch the video below to show you how to cut.

For the Cardstock, make your marks at 1 5/8″ and follow the same cutting instructions.

I made 2 of the card above and 2 of this card with the four pieces:

Angle Cut Cards, Ornate Garden, Birthday, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2020AnnualCatalog

This sentiment comes from the Butterfly Wishes Stamp set and the flower from the Lovely You stamp set.  The colors are Terracotta Tile, Crushed Curry and Old Olive.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso.

Here’s the video showing you how to cut the DSP and cardstock:

A Little Twist

on an old favorite.  I debuted the Double Point fold a while ago and wanted to change it up a little to kick off the new 2020 Annual Catalog!

Forever Fern, #2020AnnualCatalog, Friendship, 2019-2021 In Colors, Stampin' Up!, SU!

I must say, the Forever Fern Suite is one of my favorites in this new catalog.  The colors are gorgeous together and I can see quite a few uses for this bundle.   While I am only debuting the stamp set and Designer Series Paper, there are coordinating dies as well – making this a fabulous addition to your paper crafting go-tos.

For this card, I chose Pretty Peacock, Soft Sea Foam and Basic Gray for my color palette.   The sentiment is actually from the Beauty Abounds set – just to show how versatile the images are with other sets.

Here are the dimensions for the supplies needed:

  • Base Pretty Peacock – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Whisper White -4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 3″ (need 2)
  • Scraps large enough for stamping and mat using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies

Here’s the video on how to make the card:

You can now order from the 2020 Annual Catalog and I hope the Forever Fern bundle is on your list!  Shop my on-line store today!

More Silhouette Fun

Hi!  I am back today with another card featuring the Silhouette Scenes bundle!

Silhouette Scenes, Sponging, Love, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

The background for this card was creating using a mask.  I tend to make my masks using the white cardboard that comes in the Designer Series Paper packs.  I cut the mask to the size of my card front  in this case 3 3/4″ x 5″.  I then die cut a hole using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits (or any other shape you’d like).

The colors used for the background, starting at the bottom, are Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point and Night of Navy.  These are sponged onto the cardstock once the mask is in place.      I then sprinkled a few water drops  on the sponged area and dabbed with a paper towel.

The couple and sentiment are stamped with Jet Black StaZon.

The image panel measures 3 3/4″ x 5.  This is mounted on Basic Black cardstock measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The base is Pacific Point cardstock measuring 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and folded.

If you’d like to see how this card was made, check out the video in this post.

Touched by Kindness

Hi!  Today I have a card to share with you featuring the retiring Lovely is the Day and Lovely Leaves Coordinating Dies.

Lovely is the Day, Stampin' Up!, Kindness, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

This bundle is just stunning to work with.  I love the look of this card and that the die does not cut out completely but allows you to pop out the leaves and flowers for a more 3-D look.

I am sad that is retiring on June 2nd.  If you haven’t purchased this bundle yet, head to my On-Line store and get it today!  You won’t regret it!

This card uses two of the 2019-2021 In Colors – Terracotta Tile and Pretty Peacock.  The large flowers were colored with the Stampin’ Write markers, while the leaves and little flowers were colored with a Blender Pen and ink pad for a softer look and to add dimension to the flowers.

The sentiment, also from the set, is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.  The small strips of card stock – Gray Granite being the base and neutral, measure 1/4″ x 1″.  A rhinestone finishes the card.

You can watch this video to see how I did the card:

Dream Big

Hi!  Today I have a fun card using the retiring Over the Moon stamp set.  I’m sad to see these adorable cows retire at the end of this month.

Over the Moon, Dream, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2019AnnualCatalog

Isn’t he cute?  Makes me smile.  This is a pretty easy card – the base is Real Red card stock measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half.  There is a Basic Black mat behind the Whisper White stamped panel.  That measures 5 5/16″ x 4 1/16″.  The Whisper White panel measures 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.

The cow is stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with Basic Black light Blends, Smoky Slate Dark Blend and Real Red Dark Blend.  The Moon is stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with Daffodil Delight Dark Blends.  The lines around the outside are hand drawn using the Basic Black marker.
