Ombre Foils

Hi!  Hard to believe this is the last day of February!  That means there is only one month left to take advantage of all that Sale-A-Bration has to offer!  Yikes!  So many awesome products you can earn for FREE!!

Today I have a card featuring the Springtime Foils Designer Series Paper that was released as a Sale-A-Bration product on Feb 16th.  This paper is just gorgeous on its own – but I decided to show what else you could do with it in today’s card.

Brayer, Ombre, 2018SAB, Springtime Foils, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For today’s card, I used one of the foam brayers to make an Ombre look on this paper.  Starting at the top of the foil paper, I applied Night of Navy ink using the brayer.   More ink was brayered at the top of the foil paper and less ink near the bottom to give it the Ombre look.  After applying the ink, use a paper towel to remove the ink over the foil pattern.   The foil Designer Series Paper is layered on a Night of Navy mat.

The flower is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set and is colored with Pink Pirouette, Old Olive and Night of Navy markers.  This was punched out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch and layered on a 2″ Night of Navy circle punch.  The Silver Trimmed ribbon was wrapped around the foil DSP.

The base is Thick Whisper White card stock.

This paper is one of the FREE products you can choose with a $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) order.  I highly recommend it – it is so pretty and adds an elegant look to cards and projects.

In Color Blooms

Hi!  Today I am showcasing the Sale-A-Bration set Heartfelt Blooms with the 2016-2018 In Colors!

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up1, SU!

This stamp set is just gorgeous and I had  fun using the Triple Time Stamping Technique to make these cards.  If you aren’t familiar with the technique, see below for some pictures to help you.

The 2016-2018 In Colors are retiring at the end of May.  I highly recommend stocking up on card stock and re-inkers soon!  Take advantage of Sale-A-Bration and earn FREE products while you can!

Here is a closer look at each color:

Dapper Denim:

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up1, SU!

The ribbon for this card was colored using a sponge dauber and the Dapper Denim ink pad.  I hold one end of the ribbon with one hand and drag the ribbon across the pad pushing down with a Sponge dauber.  I then flip the ribbon over and repeat on the other side.  This Silver trimmed ribbon is just gorgeous and love that I can color it to match my card.

Emerald Envy:

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!
For this card, I only stamped in the two corners – leaving a little bit of white space on the card.  The ribbon was colored with the Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends!  It is so easy to color AND you only need to color one side as it goes all the way through!  Not much drying time needed either!

Flirty Flamingo:

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For this card, I aligned the top edge of all three white pieces before stamping.   I didn’t add ribbon to this one as I didn’t like any of the placements I had tried.

Peekaboo Peach:

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!

Back to the standard panel layout for this card.  I did use the sponge dauber and ink pad technique to color this ribbon in the Peekaboo Peach ink pad.  The ribbon is a bit darker as I was having a hard time evening out the color.  I do like the contrast for it.

And lastly, Sweet Sugarplum:

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!

I had some fun on this one by skewing the three white panels prior to stamping.  I once again used a Stampin’ Blends marker to color the ribbon – in this case I used Light Rich Razzleberry.   I’ll be ordering more of this ribbon for sure!

Ok, so here is how to do Triple Time Stamping:

White Layers: 2 x 3 1/4″, 3 x 4 1/4″ and 4 x 5 1/4″

Lay all three layers one on top of the other like this – use a small dab of repositionable tape to hold them in place if need be.

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!

Stamp your image.

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!

You will see some white space where the image didn’t stamp due to the edges of the layers.  That is ok – as once you add the mat layers, you will not notice it.

Mat layers:  2 1/4 x 3 1/2″, 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″

Base layer: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at  4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side and folded on the score line.

Attach the top two white layers to the mat layers and then attach to each other.  Add ribbon at this point around these layers.

Thanks, Cards, DIY Papercrafting, Heartfelt Blooms, 2018SAB, Stampin' Up!, SU!

Attach the largest white layer to the base card stock.

Once you have the dimensions for the stamped layers and mat layers, it is a pretty easy technique.

Just a reminder, Wednesday, Feb 28 is the last day to place your $50 order (US, prior to S/H and tax), and receive this FREE tutorial:

Just Can’t Resist

Hi!  I have another Hedgehugs card for you today – I just couldn’t resist – they are just so cute!

Hedgehugs, Friends, Hello, Stampin' Up!, SU!

I debuted this card in my Facebook Live on Feb 13th.  If you would like to see how it is made, you will find it on this page.

My base is Real Red – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half.

A layer of Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4″ scored at  1 1/4 & 1 3/8 and 1 1/2″” from the bottom is layered on top of that.  I like the dimension that the scored lines give to the card.

The Hedgehog is stamped in Soft Suede ink and then lightly shaded with the Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil and a blender pen.  The flower is colored with Real Red marker.  The Layering Squares and Stitched Shapes framelits were used to die cut the hedgehog as well as the Real Red mat layer.

The flowers were colored with Real Red and Always Artichoke Markers and die cut with the Layering Squares and coordinating Stitched Shapes framelits as well.    To give the card an added look, I cut these on a diagonal.

The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede ink and is from the A Good Day stamp set also in the Occasions Catalog.   A relatively quick card that I am sure would brighten anyone’s day.

I am still offering a FREE tutorial featuring the We All Celebrate stamp set for every $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) purchase through Feb 28 and using Hostess Code: NYGZFRDW

Hello, Little Bird

Hi!  I am so happy to be joining in on Kylie’s International Project Highlights today!  I’d love your vote on my project.  You can vote here.  Just click the word  “vote” under the picture of my project!

Oh, so what are you voting on?  Here is my project!

Birds, Card, Hello, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Hedgehugs, 2018Occasions

I just love this little bird from the Hedgehugs stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.  I think he is easy to overlook because those Hedgehogs are just so cute in that set.  So, I thought I’d highlight him in my card today.

The image is colored with Stampin’ Up! markers – Chocolate Chip and Calypso Coral for the bird.  Crumb Cake and Old Olive for the branch.  I colored this image directly on the stamp then stamped him on a piece of Whisper White card stock. The sentiment is from the Tabs for Everything set and is stamped in Tranquil Tide.  The image is punched with a 1 1/2″ circle punch.  This is then layered on a 1 3/4″ Tranquil Tide Circle and finally on a 2″ Calypso Coral circle.

The base of the card is the Thick Whisper White.  It is cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.  I used one of the embossing folders from the Petal Duo Pair in the Occasions Catalog.

The Designer Series Paper is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper pack and is 3 1/4 x 4″. I just love this paper – so bright and cheery and perfect for my bird.    This is layered on Tranquil Tide that is 3 1/2 x 4 1/4.  And finally a layer of Calypso Coral that is 3 3/4 x 4 1/2″.   Before placing these layers oh the base, I attached a piece of Tranquil Tide 1/2″ Finely Woven ribbon overlayed with a piece of the Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon that is FREE with a $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) order during Sale-A-Bration.

Don’t forget, during Sale-A-Bration, you earn a FREE Level 1 item with every $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) purchase or a FREE Level 2 item with every $100 (US, prior to S/H and tax).  New items were released on Feb 16th and they are a MUST HAVE!  You can shop my on-line store here.  Use Hostess Code: NYGZFRDW and get this tutorial FREE as well:

Spring Fling Blog Hop

Hi!  Welcome to the Team Stamp It Spring Fling Blog Hop!  I am happy to share with you my Spring creation using the You’re Inspiring Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog!

For my project, I created this card set complete with box and 4 cards and envelopes.

Cards, Spring, Easter, You're Inspiring, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For the cards, I stamped the daffodils on a piece of 2 1/2″ x 3″ piece of Thick Whisper White using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.   These were colored with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends markers.   The corners were rounded using the Corner Rounder on the Envelope Punch Board.  Black Baker’s Twine was tied around the bottom of the panel.

This was mounted on the leaf print pattern from the Daisy Delight Designer Series Paper pack that is 2 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ with the corners rounded.

The Base of the card is Thick Whisper White 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ and folded with a bone folder.   The sentiment is stamped in the lower right corner in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Cards, Spring, Easter, Birthday, You're Inspiring, Stamipin' Up!, SU!

I did 2 of each sentiment.  I think I prefer the longer bow on the birthday card.

Now the box.

To make the box top:

  1. Cut a piece of Thick Whisper White 7 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.
  2. Score at 1 1/4″ and 7 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.
  3. Rotate 90 degrees and score at 3 1/8″ and 4 3/8″ on the 7 1/2″ side.
  4. Cut on the 3 1/8″ and 4 3/8″ score lines on the 7 1/2″ side to form tabs.
  5. Stamp the front panel with the Daffodils in Memento Black Ink.
  6. Color with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
  7. Fold on all score lines.
  8. Adhere the tabs to the back panel using Tear & Tape.
  9. Place Tear & Tape on the front tabs and adhere to the back tabs to make lid.

For the Bottom:

  1. Cut a piece of Old Olive Card Stock 8 3/8″ x 9″.
  2. Score at 1 1/4″ and 7 1/8″ on the 8 3/8″ side.
  3. Rotate 90 degrees and score at 3 and 4 1/4″ on the 9″ side.
  4. Cut on the 3 and 4 1/4″ score lines to the score lines on both sides to form tabs.
  5. Use Tear & Tape to adhere tab to back (longer panel).
  6. Use Tear & Tape to adhere the front tabs (short panel) to the back tabs.
  7. Use Paper Snips to cut at an angle the side tabs from the front panel to the back panel.
  8. Place lid on top.

I love how this project turned out!  What do you think?

Mini Ghiradelli Treat Holder

Hi!  Welcome back to the last day of Valentine Treat Holders!  I hope you have enjoyed this mini-series and are able to find a pattern for your Valentine Treats!

Ok, on to today’s project:

Chocolates, Treat Holder, Valentines, Tabs for Everything, Stampin' Up!, SU!

This cute little box can hold 3 Mini-Ghiradelli squares or 4 Hershey Kisses or 2 Dove Hearts!   For this holder, I used the Melon Mambo Card Stock for my box and decorated with the Painted With Love Specialty Designer Paper.  The hearts and sentiment are from the Tabs for Everything Stamp set.

Here is how the box is made:

  1. Score an 8 1/2″ x 5″ piece of cardstock at 2″ and 3″ on the 5″ side.
  2. Score at 2 “, 4″, 6″  and 8″ on the 8 1/2” side.
  3. Scallop punch the panels between the 2″ and 4″ score lines and the 6″ and 8″ score lines.
  4. Cut off the 2 corners on the 1/2″ end.
  5. Cut up on the score lines on the top and bottom.
  6. Score the 2 scallop panels at 1″ from the top of the scallop.
  7. Fold on all score lines.
  8. Use Fast Fuse Adhesive to adhere the tab to form the box shape as well as on the bottom flap to seal the bottom.
  9. Use ribbon to hold the 2 scallop tops together.
  10. Decorate the sides with 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ mats.
  11. Add sentiment and fill box with goodies.

Here is a picture of the template:

Mini Ghiradelli Treat Box Template, Templates, Patterns, valentines, Treat Holder, Stampin' Up!, SU!

Just an FYI, yesterday’s box and today’s box can be made from 1 sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock.  This pattern requires 8 1/2″ x 5 and yesterday’s requires 8 1/2″ x 6.  So you can get 2 from 1 sheet!  Pretty cool!

  2. Score at 3″ and 5 1/2″ on the 8 1/2″ side.

  4. Using the Scallop Tag Topper punch, punch the two long ends.
  5. Make a small mark on the 2 short ends at 1 1/4″

  8. Use ribbon to tie the front scallop flap and close the box.
  9. Decorate as desired.

For my box, I used Melon Mambo for the base and decorated with Designer Series Paper from the Painted With Love Specialty pack.  These pieces measure 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″.

I then used the small scallop circle punch from the Occasions Catalog and adhered with dimensionals a Gold Foil heart created with the Lots to Love framelits.   You could add a sentiment to go over the heart or above or below if you’d like.   The Ribbon is the Blushing Bride double stitched ribbon.

Pretty quick to put together if you are looking to mass produce a treat.  If you need treats that are not food, try small erasers or stickers for children or a piece of jewelry for someone special.   Little notes telling the recipient what you love about them would also be sweet to tuck inside.
