Birthday Cake

Hi!  How are you today?  Been a busy few days here, we got an unexpected snow storm on Friday which dropped about 10″ of snow.  Thankfully it stopped and we were able to clear out so that Friday night’s Birthday Bash could party on!  Here is one of the cards we made using the Party Pop-Up Thinlets.  Such a fun set of dies!

SU! Party With Cake, Party Pop-Up, Confetti

For the front, we die cut the cake, trimmed off the pieces so the cake would stand on its own.  Sponged Mint Macaron, So Saffron and Watermelon Wonder inks to make our cake.  I like how it popped on the black Confetti embossed background.

For the inside, we used It’s My Party Designer Series paper for our message:

SU! Party Pop-Up, Party with Cake

The dies are so easy to use – and you can either use them as pop-up’s like the inside of the card, or cut off the excess like the front!  Who wouldn’t love getting a card like this?

Heading out soon with my daughter to work a couple of cookie booths – it is Girl Scout Cookies season for us and then to pick up some goodies to munch on during the Super Bowl.  Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks for stopping by!

It’s A High Flying….

Birthday Wish!  Getting ready for Friday night’s Birthday Bash – one of my most popular events – as guests make 15 birthday cards that they can use through out the year.  The background is once again stamped with the Watercolor Wash background stamp. Seriously, if you do not yet own this stamp, put it on your wish list!  It makes such easy backgrounds!

Stampin' Up! Sky is the Limit, Watercolor Wash

I am also very fond of the Sky is The Limit Sale-A-Bration set.  Will be sad to see it go on Feb 15 – yes, that is right – you only have until Feb 15 to earn this set for FREE!!  What are you waiting for?  It is an awesome set that can be used for birthday cards, Valentine/Anniversary, graduation, etc.  And it can be your’s FREE when you place a $50 merchandise order (prior to S/H and tax for those in the US!)

Ok, back to the card – this is the masculine card we are making tomorrow night – very quick (other than hand-cutting the plane – which isn’t that hard).  The plane, sentiment and smoke trail are all stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.  The sky is Soft Sky and the grass is Pear Pizzazz.  The plane, as mentioned, is hand cut and popped up with dimensionals.

I am in need of quite a few birthday cards – since I just joined the #imbringingbirthdaysback movement.  Social media has made it so easy for us to wish someone a happy birthday by posting to their wall, etc., that the sending of actual cards to wish someone a happy birthday has declined.  So, if you would like to receive a birthday card from me, please comment below and I’ll be in touch to get your birth date and address.

One Sheet…Wrap Up

Hi!  Thanks for sticking with me through four posts of One Sheet Wonder.  I did have fun making all these cards and think the final set would make a wonderful gift.  At a minimum, I have built up my card stash for the new year!  My Tin of Cards is now full!

Today I have the final three cards as well as the cut map I used for my 12×12 Designer Paper and a picture of all 12 cards.

First up, this Hello card.  I did add another designer paper to this card, the polka dot paper is from the Subtles Designer Paper stack – I truly LOVE color family paper stacks – they give you every color in the family and the patterns can be used for just about any project.  The sentiment is taken from the Tin of Cards stamp set.  The flower is made using the Botanical Bloom framelits and the center of the flower is accented with a sparkling enamel dot from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.

SU! Birthday Bouquet, Tin of Cards, One Sheet Wonder

Next up, this cute little Just Because card.  Hard to see in this picture, but I added a sequin and a rhinestone to the blue flowers nearest the center of each square.  It adds just a little interest to the Designer Paper and the card overall.  I embossed the background using the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder (which is retired).  The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards, punched out with the Washi Label punch and popped up on a large oval.

SU! Birthday Bouquet, Tin of Cards, One Sheet Wonder

And finally, the last card.  Have I mentioned that I like pockets?  This is a cute little pocket on the front of the card that holds our sentiment.  A little tag adorned with ribbon and one of the 2015-2017 In Color flowers.  Once again I used a piece of the designer paper from the Subtles paper stack and a sentiment from Tin of Cards.

SU! Birthday Bouquet, One Sheet Wonder, Tin of Cards

There you have it – the last of the One Sheet Wonder cards.  Here is the cutting map that I used for my 12×12 piece of Designer Series Paper:

SU! One Sheet Wonder Map

And lastly, a complete picture of all my cards in order from 1-12 following the pieces on the map above:

SU! Birthday Boutique, Tin of Cards, Fabulous Four, Grateful Bunch, Crazy For You, Dozen Thoughts,

Hopefully from the last two pictures, you can get an idea of what I did.  If you need any more information or clarification, please ask!

So, what do you think?  Are you glad you stayed with me over the past two weeks?

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Stamping!

One Sheet… (Part 3)

Good morning!  How are you today?  I am back with Part 3 of my One Sheet Wonder using the Birthday Boutique Designer Paper in the Occasions Catalog!  Sorry for the break, but I hope you enjoyed the Valentine Blog Hop and the GDP challenge card.

First up, a pocket card!  I love pocket cards – they are a bit different and also allows you to hide something inside.  The DSP rectangle is cut diagonally and one triangle flipped over so that you once again get to see both sides of the paper.  I decided to form a pocket with the two triangles and to place my sentiment inside the pocket.  The card still opens up as well, so you can write your message on the inside.  The sentiment is from Suite Sayings while the border is a stamp from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set.  I used markers to color the stamp directly.

SU! Birthday Bouquet DSP, Suite Sayings, Bloomin' Love

Next up, this quilted panel card.  For this one, you cut four 1 1/4″ squares diagonally, flipping over half of each one, to create the four points.  I have a 5th square under the butterfly.  I thought the foil doily was a nice touch for this card.  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts.

SU! Birthday Bouquet DSP, Dozen Thoughts, OSW

Last card for today.  Just a plain strip of the Designer Paper this time.  I opted to emboss my base card stock (this is a retired embossing folder), before attaching my DSP strip.  I opted to use punches to layer my sentiment to make it pop just a bit.  I also stamped the butterfly from the Grateful Bunch stamp set and punched him out to give my layered butterfly a different look.  A little ribbon to finish it off.

SU! Birthday Bouquet, Grateful Bunch, OSW

So, what do you think of the cards so far?  I have three more to finish and I will share the 12×12 cutting template that I used as well.  I will  also include a picture of all twelve cards according to the cut picture so you can see what pieces in the cut map go on each card.

Would love to hear your thoughts and if you would try this!

Thanks for stopping by!

More Hugs

Hi!  I have another card for you today using the Bear Hugs set as well as Layered Letters.  I hadn’t done a Waterfall card in quite a while and thought it would be fun to do for this weeks Global Design Project challenge #GDP020 – CASE the designer!  I was inspired by the theme of Connie’s card.

Stampin' Up! Layered Letters, Bear Hugs

The fun thing about Waterfall cards – they are interactive!  When you pull down on the ribbon, you reveal a hidden message:

Stampin' Up! Layered Letters, Bear Hugs

Each letter flips up and then slides behind – pretty cool!

I also decided to add a message to the inside of the card itself – I don’t often do that – but thought this little guy is just too cute with his message:

Stampin' Up! Bear Hugs

I had fun playing along with the GDP challenge this week – hope you will check it out via the link above and play along, too.  They are a great site for inspiration!

If you want to try a hand at making your own waterfall card, here are a few tips:

  1. Your moving strip is 8″ x 1 1/2″ – scored at 1 1/2″, 2 1/4″, 3″, and 3 3/4″.
  2. The chocolate chip strip across the bottom is only attached using brads – DO NOT USE ADHESIVE
  3. The white moving strip is attached ONLY to the chocolate chip strip – after folding on the 3 3/4″ score line, attach the front bottom edge of the moving strip to the chocolate chip strip – aligning the two edges.  The back of the white moving strip should be underneath the chocolate chip strip.
  4. L O V E are on 1 3/8″ squares and matted on 1 1/2″ Rose Red squares.
  5. When attaching the letters to the moving strip, start with the E and build your way up to the L.  Place Tear & Tape right below each of the score lines to attach the V, O and L.

I hope my tips help!

Botanical Blooms

Good morning!  Did you get a chance to check out the Team Stamp It! Valentine Blog Hop over the weekend?  No? Well, after you read through this post, scroll down to Saturday’s post and hop away!  You’ll find some great inspiration for Valentines!

Today, I am sharing the Thank You cards I made for those who placed orders in January.  One of the color combinations is inspired by the Simply Stamp It Color Challenge – SSIC #55 – Sahara Sand, Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron.  I really like both color combinations – which one do you prefer?  The middle card is Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Pool Party.

SU! Botanical Blooms, Endless Thanks

I really love the dies in the Botanical Blooms bundle.  That vine die – so pretty!!  Here is a closer look at the two color combinations – here you can see that I sponged the same color ink on each flower for the center and then added a rhinestone.  The sentiment is embossed in Whisper White embossing powder and heat set.  It come from the Endless Thanks set – I just love this font!

Love Is In The Air

Jan2016BlogHopBanner

Welcome to the Team Stamp It Valentine’s Themed Blog Hop!  We are here to inspire you with cards and projects perfect for your favorite Valentine!  My card today feature the Bear Hugs stamp set  and coordinating framelits – perfect for pretty much everyone on your list.

SU! Bear Hug, Teeny Tiny Wishes

The background is stamped using the Watercolor Wash stamp – inked the top in Soft Sky and the bottom in Pear Pizzazz.  It created a quick and easy outdoor scene for my bear.  The bear is stamped in Chocolate Chip, die cut using the matching framelits, then stamped again on the back so that his arms could be folded to hold the heart.  The heart and flowers also have matching dies!  How cool is that?   This is a great bundle (which you save 15% when purchased) and can be used for many different occasions.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes – still one of my favorite sentiment sets.

We are also doing a giveaway!  Just leave a comment here making sure to use #stampitcontest to be entered!  Deadline for the comments are February 10th with the winner being announced on February 12.  Want to see what you can win?

One Sheet (Part 2)

Back today with 3 more cards using the One Sheet Wonder from my previous post.  For these 3 cards, I paired them up with the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit and the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Perfect Pairings.  Love the coordinating products in this kit and how well they work with the Birthday Boutique Designer Paper as well as the Love Blossoms Designer Paper.

Stampin' Up!, Birthday Bouquet, Perfect Pairings,

First up – this Happy Birthday card.  The original layout for the squares was not this arrangement – the original actually used 6 squares.  I decided to change the layout to this because I really liked this look.  The sequins add just a little bling to the card.

Next up, this Thank You So Much card

.Stampin' Up!, Birthday Bouquet, Perfect Pairings

I brought back my butterfly – but decided to use the pearl trim from the Embellishment kit over the rhinestones.  He is still sponged on the edges with Blushing Bride ink.

The last card for today is this Thank You Kindly card.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Bouquet, Perfect Pairings

For this card, I used the Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon – but I could have easily have used the satin ribbon that is in the kit.  I like the little pearl trim hanging down from my bow.

Overall, relatively clean and simple cards, but with the added touch of the embellishments, a more elegant look I think.

If you are interested in making these cards, the following items total $50 and allow you to get the Perfect Pairings set for FREE!

Mossy Meadow Card Stock, Soft Sky Card Stock, Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit, Mossy Meadow Ink Pad, Blushing Bride Ink Pad.

The full list of products used can be found below.

Which one do you like the most?

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope my creations inspire you to try something new.

One Sheet…

many cards!

Hi!  How are you?  I have been playing around the last few days with the One Sheet Wonder technique.  There are a few ways to do it – you can stamp your one sheet or you can use a sheet of Designer Series Paper.  I chose a sheet from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper pack and cut it up following a template I found on Splitcoast Stampers that allows me to make 12 different cards.  I really love this idea, as it allows you to showcase both sides of the paper.  Today I am sharing 3 of the cards with you.

First up – this side weave card.  Just 4 little strips needed – and you can use both sides of the paper!  I added some butterflies and my greeting is from Crazy About You.   I really love the soft look of this designer paper – the colors are just gorgeous together.

OSW2_weavebday_small

On this next card – I liked the idea of creating a “window” for the sentiment.  I embellished with the same style butterfly as in my previous card – couldn’t resist – I thought it was too pretty not to use again.

OSW3_windowbday_small

My final card, I decided to add another piece of Designer Paper – this from the Subtles Designer Paper Stack – I really love the sheet with the words.  I did brayer Blushing Bride ink over the words to mute them.  The sentiment for this card came from the Fabulous Four set.  A little ribbon and an In Color embellishment and there you have it.  Three cards of the 12 using one sheet of Designer Paper.

Birthday Fishes

Playing along with the Global Design Projects Sketch Challenge #GDP18 this week.  Fun sketch!GDP018

When I saw the sketch, I had this card idea pop into my head.  My daughter thought I was crazy – but you go with the flow.  I am pretty happy with how it turned out and I already know which family member will be receiving it next month.  I think he’ll like it.

BearBD_small.

The Bear Hugs bundle contains both the stamp set and matching framelits – which made this card pretty easy to whip up.  The hole the bear is popping out of is made using the 2″ and 2 1/2″ circle punches.  A little texture was added using the Woodgrain embossing folder.  What do you think?  Like it?  Or agree with my daughter – that I’m a little bit crazy?  Ok – maybe one doesn’t have much to do with the other, lol.   Thanks GDP for a fun sketch!
