Fun With Baby Wipes

Hi!  Today I have a card (or two) that used baby wipes to create the background!

Stampin' Up! SU! One Big Meaning, Dragonfly Dreams, Gorgeous Grunge

So – what did I do for my background you may ask?  I crumpled up a baby wipe, dabbed it on the Marina Mist ink pad, then randomly dabbed it on my Whisper White card stock.  I then repeated this with Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron.   I then went back and stamped images from Gorgeous Grunge (if you don’t have this set – order it TODAY!!  It’s days are limited!) using the same colors.

Here is another version – with a bit more ink applied using baby wipes:

Stampin' Up! SU! One Big Meaning, Dragonfly Dreams, Gorgeous Grunge

The dragonflies are die cut from Basic Black cardstock and then glittered with the Wink of Stella Clear glitter.  Here is a closer look at the dragonflies:

The sentiment is from One Big Meaning and is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.

What do you think?  Something you’d be willing to try?  If you do, please let me know!  I love this look – and it will never be exactly the same.

Amazing Mother

Hi!  A day late with this post – but just as true today as it was yesterday.  Here is the card I made for my mom to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Stampin' Up! SU! That's The Tag

This card was made using the That’s The Tag stamp set – such a great bundle if you haven’t gotten it yet.  It’s on the retirement list which means after May 31 (unless it sells out sooner) – you will not be  able to get it anymore.    You’ll find it in my on-line store.

For this card, I only used the stamp set – just to show you can still make very pretty cards even without the matching framelets.  I stamped the oval and sentiment in Soft Sky, the flowers in Archival Basic Black and used Perfect Plum, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive markers to color them in.  The Polka Dot Paper is from the Soft Subtles Designer Series Paper stack.

And now – for a giveaway!!  We hit 100 followers on my blog so I think that is cause to celebrate!!  Leave a comment below by Sunday, May 21st and you will be entered to win this Hey You stamp set and card kit!

For the Love of Dance

Hi! Today I am sharing a gift that I am making for some very special dance teachers.  Thanks so much to Kelea Nevis for the idea!

Stampin' Up! SU! Beautiful You

I just LOVE how these turned out.  The coasters were purchased at the Dollar Tree store and are sandstone.  The background three colors are already on the coaster – making these quick and easy to mass produce.   The ink is Basic Black Archival ink and the image and sentiment are from the Beautiful You stamp set.

Here is a closer view of one coaster:

I hope they like them!

Next I am going to try to make some with a different tile and the High Tide stamp set.  With Father’s Day next month – I think they’ll make a nice gift.

Stampin' Up! SU! That's The Tag MasculineWhat do you think?  I love the clean look of this card.  And while I didn’t capture it completely, the little triangles alternate between Copper Foil and Basic Black cardstock.  It is just striking in person.

Thinking of Sponging?

Hi!  Welcome back!  Today I am kicking off the week with a little sponging.  This is a card we made at a workshop recently.  I had seen a similar card on Song of My Heart’s blog – she had received it from Linda, a fellow demonstrator in Australia.  So thank you, Linda, for the inspiration!

SU! Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree

I used the Paper Doilies in the Occasions catalog – did you know that they are Very Vanilla on one side and Whisper White on the other making them perfect!!  For this technique, use the side you do NOT want facing up to do your sponging then just use the other side for our card.

This card is sponged with Delightful Dijon – one of the In Colors that will be retiring in May.  If you haven’t set, seriously consider stocking up on the In Color products now – they sell out fast and the re-inkers have started showing up on the back order report.  (And don’t forget the card stock!!)

The ribbon is one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration rewards that was still available last I knew.  It is very pretty with metallic thread weaved through it.

The sentiment is from the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

Don’t forget, I am hosting a Virtual Facebook Party on Wednesday night to say Goodbye to Sale-A-Bration.  Click this link to join in the fun!

Watercolor Dragonfly

Hi!  Sorry I have been MIA the last week – life got a little crazy and I had a few other commitments I needed to complete.  I hope today’s card makes it worth the wait.

Stampin' Up! SU! Dragonfly Dreams

I love how this card turned out!  The Dragonfly Dreams bundle is one of my favorites – is it yours?

For the background, I scribbled on a piece of Watercolor Paper with the following Watercolor Pencils:

  • Daffodil Delight
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Rich Razzleberry
  • Pacific Point

Then, start at the top and use an Aquapainter to spread the colors -working toward the bottom.  You do not need to clean off the brush between colors – but you DO NOT want to go back up without cleaning off the brush – ask me how I know.

The Dragonflies are die cut from Basic Black card stock, then colored with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.  Here is a close up of the dragonflies.

Stampin' Up! SU! Dragonfly Dreams

The Watercolor paper is layered on Basic Black.  The base is Rich Razzleberry.  I used the Black/Gray twine from the Holiday Catalog to finish off my card.

There is only a little over a week left of Sale-A-Bration and items are selling out fast!  If you haven’t gotten your FREE favorites – don’t wait to order!   Also, Stampin’ Up! added 7 catalog products as FREE items.  Here they are:

Rainy Day

Hi! Today I have a card we made at last night’s Beautiful You Watercolor class.  This card feature the lady with the umbrella image.

Stampin' Up! SU! Beautiful You

For this card, we sponged Sahara Sand ink on the bottom using a scrap piece to mask the top half of the card.  Then covered the bottom and sponged Smoky Slate ink on top.  Next, stamp the swish stamp in Smoky Slate and the girl in Black StaZon.  The girl’s dress is colored using the Basic Black watercolor pencil, the umbrella with the Basic Gray watercolor pencil and the legs very lightly with the Pumpkin Pie watercolor pencil.  A Blender Pen was used to blend and shade the colors.  After coloring, take the Basic Gray pencil and lightly draw random lines for the rain.

This was the favorite of all the cards made last night.

If you have not yet tried out the Watercolor Pencils and this stamp set – you are missing out!  They are such fun products to play with.

We are winding down for Sale-A-Bration and the Card Tin is now SOLD OUT!  Don’t miss out on any of your other favorite FREE rewards – place your order today!!  Shop my on-line store here.
