This Or That – CAS Style

Hi!  Today I am sharing 2 cards with you to see which one you prefer – This or That – Clean and Simple Style.

THIS: Textured Background

Squared Away, Floral Squares, Expressions in Ink, Love of Leaves, Thank You, CAS, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2021AnnualCatalog

THAT:  Score Lines

Squared Away, Floral Squares, Expressions in Ink, Love of Leaves, Thank You, CAS, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2021AnnualCatalog

I am finding that I love the Clean and Simple look  and finding that it doesn’t have to be boring – you can add interest with the use of a 3D Embossing Folder – such as the Tasteful Textile folder used in THIS – or by just adding some score lines as seen in THAT.

For both cards, I used the Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper – my favorite in the Annual Catalog and the Floral Squares dies – such a fun set of dies (they are bundled with the All Squared Away stamp set which makes cute backgrounds for these die cuts as well).  I cut each floral frame twice and attached them together to give the image some dimension.

To make a frame for my image, I chose the Stitched with Whimsy dies.

The sentiment is from the Love of Leaves stamp set – I wanted a small font and this was perfect for the Thank You cards I needed to send for the end of September orders I received.

The main colors for the card are:

  • Basic White – 4 1/4″ x 11″ – score at 5 1/2″ and fold, mat layer 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Evening Evergreen – 5 1/4″ x 4″ for the mat

The Floral Squares measure 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ when cut, so I cut the Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper the same size.

So, which look do you like better?  THIS or THAT?  Leave a comment and let me know!

By the way, I am so close to hitting my $200K career sales milestone!  Thank you so much to those who shop with me!

Got Scraps?

Hi!  Welcome to today’s post – using some of those Designer Series Scraps!  We all have them and this layout is perfect for using some of them up!

Butterflies, Thanks, 2019 Occasions, 2019 Sale-a-Bration, Humming Along, Stampin' Up!, SU!

I just love this layout and this Design Series Paper is just gorgeous!   The staggered look of the panels truly appeals to me.

I used a scrap that was 2 1/4″ x 4″.   I cut this into 3 pieces measuring 3/4″ x 4″.   These are then mounted on Basic Black mats that measure 7/8″ x 4 1/8″.

The base color for this card is Highland Heather.  The sentiment is from the Humming Along stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.

This Designer Series Paper is a FREE choice during Sale-A-Bration when you place a $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) order.   It is called Botanical Butterfly.  It coordinates with the Butterfly Gala bundle in the Occasions Catalog – there are sheets in this Designer Series Paper Pack which can be used with the punch.   Click on the product list below to be taken to my on-line store where you can purchase any of the products (and get your FREE Designer Series Paper) used in today’s card.

Here is another version of this card with Grapefruit Grove:

Butterflies, Butterfly Gala, 2019 Occasions, 2019 Sale-A-Bration, Stampin' Up!, SU!

Yes, I’ve made a few of these cards with this layout.   I think they’ll make a great gift for someone special.

Keeping It Simple Friday

Hi!  Today I have a quick and simple card for you – because sometimes, that is just what we need.  Thinking of You, Rooted in Nature, Fall, Stampin' Up!, SU!Simple doesn’t have to mean ugly.  I love the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper pack – such gorgeous colors!  I am not sure I would have thought to do leaves in Blackberry Bliss and Petal Pink – but this paper is just so pretty!   As I said, I kept it simple by just adding a sentiment, a little baker’s wine and a leaf embellishment.    Pretty straightforward and done in less than 10 minutes.

What do you think?  Do you like quick and easy?  With some of our Designer Series Paper you don’t need more than a sentiment and a little embellishing.

Petal Palette Clean & Simple

Hi!  How are you?  I hope you are doing well!  Sorry for not posting for a few days – ended up out of town for a business trip and wasn’t able to get a post written before I left.

Today I have a clean and simple card featuring the Petal Palette stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.

Thank You, Thanks, Petal Palette, Stampni' Up!, SU!, 2018Occasions

I love the clean look of this card!  I typically struggle with CAS (Clean and Simple) cards, but am very happy with how this one turned out.  The flowers are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends.  The leaves are colored with the Old Olive Duo Pack and the flowers with Pink Pirouette and Cherry Cobbler Dark Blends.  I love that you can see just a hint of the Pink Pirouette in the flower petals.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark on Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I used a small scrap of Berry Burst card stock punched with the Ribbon punch to tuck underneath.  A few Rose Red Regal Enamel shapes to accent the sentiment and there you have it.

For the layers, Thick Whisper White is used for the base and is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  A Basic Black layer 5 1/4″ x 4″ is adhered to the base while the stamped  panel is Whisper White cardstock measuring 5″ x 3 3/4″.

An easy enough card to mass produce if you are in need of quite a few.   Change out the sentiment to make it a Birthday or Congratulations card!

There are just 10 more days to go before Sale-A-Bration ends!  Do NOT miss out on getting your FREE goodies!!  A $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) order earns you a FREE product from either Sale-A-Bration brochure shown on the right or from the flier posted above.  A $250 order (or gather a few orders from friends) earns you Sale-A-Bration products as well an additional $25 (for a total of $50) in FREE merchandise of your choice!  Is your wish list really long?  Then JOIN my team!  You choose $125 in Stampin’ Up! products for just $99 plus tax and then add on 2 Stamp Sets FREE!!

Ombre Foils

Hi!  Hard to believe this is the last day of February!  That means there is only one month left to take advantage of all that Sale-A-Bration has to offer!  Yikes!  So many awesome products you can earn for FREE!!

Today I have a card featuring the Springtime Foils Designer Series Paper that was released as a Sale-A-Bration product on Feb 16th.  This paper is just gorgeous on its own – but I decided to show what else you could do with it in today’s card.

Brayer, Ombre, 2018SAB, Springtime Foils, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For today’s card, I used one of the foam brayers to make an Ombre look on this paper.  Starting at the top of the foil paper, I applied Night of Navy ink using the brayer.   More ink was brayered at the top of the foil paper and less ink near the bottom to give it the Ombre look.  After applying the ink, use a paper towel to remove the ink over the foil pattern.   The foil Designer Series Paper is layered on a Night of Navy mat.

The flower is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set and is colored with Pink Pirouette, Old Olive and Night of Navy markers.  This was punched out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch and layered on a 2″ Night of Navy circle punch.  The Silver Trimmed ribbon was wrapped around the foil DSP.

The base is Thick Whisper White card stock.

This paper is one of the FREE products you can choose with a $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) order.  I highly recommend it – it is so pretty and adds an elegant look to cards and projects.

Today is the last day to get your We Must Celebrate Tutorial FREE with a $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) purchase.  Shop my on-line store and use Hostess Code: NYGZFRDW

Just Can’t Resist

Hi!  I have another Hedgehugs card for you today – I just couldn’t resist – they are just so cute!

Hedgehugs, Friends, Hello, Stampin' Up!, SU!

I debuted this card in my Facebook Live on Feb 13th.  If you would like to see how it is made, you will find it on this page.

My base is Real Red – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ and folded in half.

A layer of Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4″ scored at  1 1/4 & 1 3/8 and 1 1/2″” from the bottom is layered on top of that.  I like the dimension that the scored lines give to the card.

The Hedgehog is stamped in Soft Suede ink and then lightly shaded with the Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil and a blender pen.  The flower is colored with Real Red marker.  The Layering Squares and Stitched Shapes framelits were used to die cut the hedgehog as well as the Real Red mat layer.

The flowers were colored with Real Red and Always Artichoke Markers and die cut with the Layering Squares and coordinating Stitched Shapes framelits as well.    To give the card an added look, I cut these on a diagonal.

The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede ink and is from the A Good Day stamp set also in the Occasions Catalog.   A relatively quick card that I am sure would brighten anyone’s day.

I am still offering a FREE tutorial featuring the We All Celebrate stamp set for every $50 (US, prior to S/H and tax) purchase through Feb 28 and using Hostess Code: NYGZFRDW

Spring Fling Blog Hop

Hi!  Welcome to the Team Stamp It Spring Fling Blog Hop!  I am happy to share with you my Spring creation using the You’re Inspiring Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog!

For my project, I created this card set complete with box and 4 cards and envelopes.

Cards, Spring, Easter, You're Inspiring, Stampin' Up!, SU!

For the cards, I stamped the daffodils on a piece of 2 1/2″ x 3″ piece of Thick Whisper White using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.   These were colored with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends markers.   The corners were rounded using the Corner Rounder on the Envelope Punch Board.  Black Baker’s Twine was tied around the bottom of the panel.

This was mounted on the leaf print pattern from the Daisy Delight Designer Series Paper pack that is 2 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ with the corners rounded.

The Base of the card is Thick Whisper White 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ and folded with a bone folder.   The sentiment is stamped in the lower right corner in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Cards, Spring, Easter, Birthday, You're Inspiring, Stamipin' Up!, SU!

I did 2 of each sentiment.  I think I prefer the longer bow on the birthday card.

Now the box.

To make the box top:

  1. Cut a piece of Thick Whisper White 7 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.
  2. Score at 1 1/4″ and 7 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.
  3. Rotate 90 degrees and score at 3 1/8″ and 4 3/8″ on the 7 1/2″ side.
  4. Cut on the 3 1/8″ and 4 3/8″ score lines on the 7 1/2″ side to form tabs.
  5. Stamp the front panel with the Daffodils in Memento Black Ink.
  6. Color with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
  7. Fold on all score lines.
  8. Adhere the tabs to the back panel using Tear & Tape.
  9. Place Tear & Tape on the front tabs and adhere to the back tabs to make lid.

For the Bottom:

  1. Cut a piece of Old Olive Card Stock 8 3/8″ x 9″.
  2. Score at 1 1/4″ and 7 1/8″ on the 8 3/8″ side.
  3. Rotate 90 degrees and score at 3 and 4 1/4″ on the 9″ side.
  4. Cut on the 3 and 4 1/4″ score lines to the score lines on both sides to form tabs.
  5. Use Tear & Tape to adhere tab to back (longer panel).
  6. Use Tear & Tape to adhere the front tabs (short panel) to the back tabs.
  7. Use Paper Snips to cut at an angle the side tabs from the front panel to the back panel.
  8. Place lid on top.

I love how this project turned out!  What do you think?

Out to Sea

Hi!  Today I am back with a card we made at Friday’s Any Occasion’s class.  The goal of the class was to make cards that just needed a sentiment for the occasion on hand.

High Tide, So Many Shells, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Occasions

This card uses the High Tide and So Many Shells sets.  The water and birds are from High Tide while the sentiment is from So Many Shells. These two sets work so well together.  The water is stamped with Marina Mist ink, the birds with Chocolate Chip and the Sentiment in Sahara Sand.   It may be a little hard to see, but Soft Sky ink was dabbed on using a sponge for the sky.   The stamped panel is mounted to a Marina Mist panel and the base is Thick Whisper White.  A very quick and easy card that can be used for masculine birthdays, thanks or could also be used for a Sympathy card.

Just a reminder, if you earned a bonus coupon in July, please use them before August 31st!  I’d hate for you to lose out on that savings you earned!

Also, the Carols of Christmas bundle can be ordered this month so you can get a head start on those Christmas projects!

Top Ten Winner Blog Hop

Hi!  So excited for today as I am hopping with the Top 10 Winners from Kylie’s International Project Highlights from December and January!!

Today I have a card I did featuring the Pretty Kitty stamp set.  Being an owner of 3 cats (can’t take 3 kids to a shelter and come home with just one) – I had to have this set when I saw it in the Annual Catalog.  I finally pulled it off the shelf and put it to use.

SU! Pretty Kitty

I just love this little guy – so cute hiding in the flower pot and the sentiment is just perfect for this image.  I used the new Watercolor Pencils to color the image – the flower pot is a blend of Early Espresso and Real Red.  I also added a touch of Early Espresso around the outside of the pot on the bottom for some shading and to anchor it on the card. Without it – it looked like it was floating on the page.  The flowers are colored with Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry.  The leaves were colored in Old Olive.  Given the detail of the image, I used a blender pen to mix and spread the colors.  The kitten is colored with Basic Gray and his ears and nose with Melon Mambo.

I hope you liked today’s card and please continue to hop along to see what everyone else has created.
