Unique and Amazing You

Hi!  It’s been a whirlwind this week as Stampin’ Up! announced their color refresh as well as the Last Chance lists for the Annual and Mini catalogs.   I had planned on posting this card on Wednesday – and got wrapped up in all the excitement and here we are on Friday finally posting.  I hope you don’t mind the delay.

WV Fold, Friends are Like Seashells, By The Bay, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #annualcatalog2022, #retiringsoon

I found this new-to-me fold and fell in LOVE that I had to share with my Facebook followers Tuesday night.  The fold is called a WV fold and here is why:

WV Fold, Friendship, Friends are Like Seashells,, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #retiringsoon

When the card is open, the front of the card makes a W and the inside pop-out makes a V.   Isn’t that fun?

Ok, so let’s get to the details:

  • Base – Pool Party – 5 1/2″ x 11″, score at 1 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/4″ and 7″
  • V panel – Pool Party – 6″ x 3″, score at 3″
  • Basic White – 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ (need 3)
  • Optional – Pool Party 3″ x 3″ for mat on inside white panel
  • Designers Series Paper – 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ – 4 pieces – can start with 1 piece 5 1/4″ x 6″ and cut into 4 1 1/2″ strips as shown above, or can mix and match prints similar to the card in the video below
  • Designer Series Paper – 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ for inside back panel.

For this card, I paired the soon-to-be retired (sadness), Friends are Like Seashells and the Seaside Bay (carrying over from the Mini to the new Annual Catalog – yay!).  The seashells and sand on the front are stamped as follows:  sand – Sahara Sand, Conch – Petal Pink, larger shell – So Saffron, small shell – Sahara Sand.  The sand and shells on the second panel are also stamped in Sahara Sand.  The sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

To see how to assemble the card, here’s the video:

If you are interested in the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set, I highly recommend getting the coordinating dies and the 3D Embossing Folder as well.  While I do not use them on this project, you will want all 3 products for your crafting.  Here’s a card using the embossing folder.  The dies and folder will be on sale starting April 4.  Please note that both Sahara Sand and So Saffron are retiring from our core color lines – so make sure to add a reinker and card stock to your order if you are running low.

I hope you enjoyed today’s fun fold and give it a go.

Hanging Out

Hi!  How are you today?  I hope as we wind down the month of March you are doing well.   Today I have a card featuring the Love Cats stamp set in the Jan-April Mini.

Love Cats, Friendship, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanAprilMini2023, #funfold

I truly love the images in this set and have had some fun with them.  This card features a fun fold as well – so I hope you’ll give it a try.

The base of the card is Daffodil Delight and measures 5 1/2″ x 7″, score at 2 3/4″ and fold.

The rest of the measurements are:

  • Basic Black: 5 3/8″ x 2 5/8″, 3 1/8″ x 3 1/8″, 5 3/8″ x 1 3/8″
  • Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper: 5 1/4″ x 2 1/2″, 5 1/4″ x 1 1/4″
  • Basic White: 3″ x 3″

The cat is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the heart is colored with the Real Red Stampin’ Blends.  The sentiment is stamped in Daffodil Delight.   Classic Matte Black dots are used to embellish the card.

While the stamp set was originally designed for Valentine’s Day, the sentiments allow its use for many other occasions – especially this one used to celebrate friendship.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.

Playing in the Rain, Just Because, Fun Fold, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanAprilMini2023

Isn’t this guy just the cutest?  I love this suite and this fold.  It is pretty easy to do and the critters make such fun cards.

  • Basic Gray – 5 1/2″ x 3″, score at 5″
  • Designer Series Paper – Umbrellas – 2 1/2″ x 4″
  • Designer Series Paper – Rain – 4 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
  • Basic White Scraps for bunny and sentiment
  • Balmy Blue strip – 2 3/4″ x 1/4″

The bunny is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Combo pack for the rain jacket, Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends for the ears and nose, and Smoky Slate light and Balmy Blue light Stampin’ Blends for the puddle.  Please note that the coordinating die will ONLY cut the bunny, so you will need to use Paper Snips to cut out the puddle.

The sentiment from Happy Labels is stamped on a Basic White scrap and the flag tail is created using the Banners Pick A Punch.  The Balmy Blue strip is also created with the same punch.

Fancy Fold with DSP

Hi!  How are you today?  We are winding down with Sale-A-Bration – as it ends on August 31, so I wanted to share with you one last card featuring the Wonderful World Bundle.

This one uses both the Designer  Series Paper and the coordinating Stamp set that you get in the bundle.  You still have time to earn this bundle FREE with a $100 purchase (US, prior to S/H and tax) in my on-line store.

Wonderful World, Very Best Occasions, Stampin' Up!, DSP, SU!, #SAB2022

Ok, so I did say that this was a Fancy Fold. what makes it that?  The Designer Series Paper is actually  4″ x 12″, so when you open the card, here is what you see!

Wonderful World, DSP, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #SAB2022, Fancy Fold

Isn’t that pretty?  Now you don’t  have to worry about which side of the paper to showcase!  This card showcases both!  You could use the entire pack to make 36 cards (you would just have to forgo the strip inside the card).

Here’s what you need:

  • Base – Mossy Meadow – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 12″, score at 5 1/4″ and 10 1/2″ – fold down on the first score and up on the second.
  • Inside – Basic White – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Strip (optional) – 1/2″ x 5 1/4″

Attach the back flap of the Designer Series Paper to the Base Mossy Meadow.  Adhere the bottom flap of the Designer Series Paper to the front using Seal adhesive.  Wrap the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Thread (on the Clearance Rack for $2.80!) around the front and tie in a knot.

Use the Stampin’ Write Markers – Melon Mambo and Mossy Meadow, to ink the flower right on the stamp, and then stamp on a scrap of Basic White.  Die cut with the Stylish Shapes circle die.  Stamp the sentiment from Very Best Occasions (found in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog) in StaZon Jet Black ink over the flower.   Attach the circle to the card front using dimensionals.

I highly recommend the Very Best Occasions Stamp Set – the sentiments are prefect for card fronts – or insides, and covers Birthday, Christmas, Sympathy, Thinking of You, Thank You and just because.  I love when a sentiment set covers many different purposes.   With 3 kids out of the house, the sentiment above will be getting lots of use this coming year.

Just a reminder, I am offering a Double Down for every $50 and $100 purchase made with this link through Monday, August 29th.   You can get a FREE, new in package, stamp set or bundle when you place a $50 or $100 order.   Link to store: https://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=ATHJQUSR

A Little Birthday Snail

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a good weekend! Since I kicked off the week yesterday with a Snail Valentine, I decided to continue the theme and today we have a Snail Birthday.

Snailed It, Birthday, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Fun Fold, #JanJuneMini2021

Do you remember this fold from 2018?  It is the double point fold that I came across from Lisa Curcio.  Since it’s been a few years, I figured it was time to revisit it.  It is relatively easy to do and a great way to use your Designer Series Paper.

  1. Cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper 3″ x 4″.  Score at 1″ along the 3″ side.  (If your paper has a direction to it, for the top flap, score at 1″ from the top, for the bottom flap, score at 1″ from the bottom”)
  2. Fold the corners furthest from the score line down to the score line.
  3. Use adhesive to hold the corners down.
  4. Attach the 1″ flap to the top and bottom of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White card stock.
  5. Attach the Basic White card stock to a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ colored card stock.
  6. Use punches or die cuts for your front focal image that is big enough to span the two points.
  7. Decorate as desired and stamp a sentiment under the focal image for the inside of the card if desired.
  8. Attach the focal image to the TOP ONLY using dimensionals.

Here is a video showing the card above (it is the second card in the video):

For the snail, he is stamped in Jet Black Stazon and colored with Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen.  He is die cut with the coordinating die set.

The Stitched Nested Label dies provided the perfect layers to span the two flaps.  Did you catch the beveled edge on the Basic White layer?  That is easy to do and a great way to get more out of your dies!  Before popping out the cardstock from the die, flip it over and run your stylus along the inside edge of the die – it creates that beveled look.  (I show that in the video as well)!

And here he is in Real Red:

Snailed It, Birthday, DoublePointFold, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJuneMini2021

We are down to the final 2 weeks of Sale-A-Bration – so make sure you place those $50 orders in my On-Line store so you don’t miss out on your FREE goodies!  You’ll find the link over to the right, or click on any of the products used below.

Hello Sunshine!

Hi!  Happy Monday!!  I had so much fun Friday night at the Mystery Stamp night and decided to start the week with the card layout I used.  Huge thanks to Kim Quade at Kim Plays with Paper for the inspiration.

Fun Fold, Hello, Under My Umbrella, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #2020AnnualCatalog, #2020InColor, #MysteryStamping

Isn’t this a fun layout!  The stamped image is a flap and a layer behind to write your message!   For this card, I used the Under My Umbrella stamp set.  The images were stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with Stampin Blends – Real Red, So Saffron, Seaside Spray and Old Olive.  The sentiment is stamped in the new Misty Moonlight In Color ink.  I used the Stitched Shapes and Layering Circles for the sentiment.    A piece of Misty Moonlight In Color Twill Ribbon finishes it off.

The Designer Series Paper is from the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper pack.

Here are the dimensions:

  • Base – Misty Moonlight – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Flap – Misty Moonlight – 3″ x 8 1/2″ – score at 4 1/4″
  • Image Panel – Whisper White – 2 3/4″ x 4″ (need 2 – one for the inside)

Assembly:

  • Attach Designer Series Paper to the base
  • Attach the Flap to the Designer Series Paper (centered would be 1 1/4″ from each end)
  • Attach the Image panel to the top of the flap
  • Attach the second panel to the inside

If you wanted to save on Designer Series Paper – you could cut two strips that are 1 1/8″ x 4″ to place on each side of the flap once attached to the base.

I have so many fun ideas for this layout – I can’t wait to try them out!

I host Mystery Stamping Zoom Meetings the 3rd Friday of the month – I hope you will consider joining me in September!

Ornate Thanks

Hi!  Today I am playing along with Kylie’s International Blog Highlights!  I had so much fun last month and decided to play along this month.

Our theme is once again Thanks.  With everything going on in the world today, it is extremely important that we show appreciation to those around us.

Thanks, Oranate Garden, #2020AnnualCatalog, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #internationalbloghighlights

I first shared this style of fold back in August 2018.  I hadn’t used it since, and decided that this new suite (available now and debuting in the 2020 Annual Catalog) was perfect!

I love the Designer Series Paper and felt it made the perfect background for my card.   The flower is stamped with Early Espresso ink and colored with So Saffron and Old Olive markers.  The sentiment is stamped in Terracotta Tile ink.

The cardstock dimensions are:

  • Base:  Terracotta Tile – 4 1/4″ x 11″
  • Base Layers:
    • Early Espresso – 4″ x 5 1/4″ – need 2 (one for the front and one for the back)
    • Whisper White – 4″ x 5 1/4″ – (for the back)
    • Designer Series Paper – 4″ x 5 1/4″
    • Early Espresso – 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
  • Pop-out: Early Espresso – 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Pop-out Layers –
    • Terracotta Tile –  2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″
    • Whisper White – 2 1/4″ x 3″
  • Scraps for second part of sentiment and flowers

For the Base, score the 4 1/4″ x  11″ at 1/2″, 2″, 4″ and 5 1/2″

For the Pop-out, score the  2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ at 1/2″ and 2″ on the 5 1/2″ side

Here is the video (it is the second card) on how to put it all together.
