Hopping Away

Hi!  Happy Friday and end of the work week!  Today I have 2 cards to share with you featuring the soon-to-be gone Kangaroo & Company!  This set is adorable and perfect for welcoming a new little one, celebrating a birthday, or just wanting to let someone know you are thinking of them.

Baby, Kangaroo, Kangaroo & Company, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJune2021Mini

Let’s talk about this adorable baby card.  The base is Balmy Blue followed by a layer of Basic Black.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper pack which is retiring at the end of the month.

The kangaroo is stamped in Memento Black Ink and colored with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends and Flirty Flamingo for the ear.  The baby is colored with Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend and Flirty Flamingo as well.   The coordinating dies in the bundle are used to die cut both.   The mama die also cuts a slit for her pouch so baby can get tucked in!

The sentiment is stamped in Balmy Blue and the hears in Flirty Flamingo.  The Ovals were die cut with the now retired Layering Ovals and Stitched Shapes dies.  I had sent this card to my nephew and his wife on the arrival of their little boy.

Baby, Friendship, Kangaroo, Kangaroo & Company, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJune2021Mini

For the second card,  I decided to do a sponged background for my focal point.  I created a template using the piece of cardboard that comes in the Designer Series Paper – cut down to the same size as my image panel – in this case 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ – and then die cut an oval from the center.  Lay the template over your Basic White cardstock and sponge Pear Pizzazz for the grass and Balmy Blue for the sky.  Remove the template and you have your sponged background.

The grass was stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink.  The flowers, butterfly and kangaroo were stamped in Memento Black Ink.  The kangaroo was colored with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.  The flowers were colored with Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends.  The butterfly was colored with the light and dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends.  All three pieces were die cut with their coordinating dies.  The sentiment was stamped in Memento Black ink.

The base of the card is Gorgeous Grape with a layer of Highland Heather on top.

Don’t let this bundle hop away!  Order your set here.

Happy Thoughts

Hi!  As we come up on the end of the January-June Mini Catalog (it’s retiring on June 30th), I wanted to point out the Happy Thoughts stamp set.  This stamp set contains sentiments for both the inside and outside of your card, making it the perfect addition to your papercrafting Go-To’s.

Happy Thoughts, Any Occasion, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJune21Mini

This card features the gorgeous Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper – also retiring on June 30.  The Paper is cut using the Quite Curvy Dies – also disappearing on June 30.

And why did I not notice before how well Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape coordinate?  I guess I don’t often reach for the purples in my collection – but I might just do that a little more as I love this combination.

This is a quick and simple card, but by adding a dash of ribbon (sorry, it is already retired) and Pastel Pearls (Yay! These carried over to the 2021 Annual Catalog), you have a gorgeous card ready to send that can be made in about 10 minutes.

Here are the dimensions and scoring:

  • Base: Gorgeous Grape – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side and folded
  • Layer: Highland Heather – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Designer Series Paper – 5 1/4″ x 3″ and cut with the Quite Curvy dies

Add some bling and your sentiment- and you are done!

Make sure you check out the Last Chance list for the Jan-June Mini catalog and grab your favorites (some at a discount!), before they are gone!

Happy Birthday Chick

Hi!  Today I have a card featuring the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set.  Do you recall the Hey Chick set from 2017?  Well, this is it’s sister set and is in the January-June Mini Catalog.

Hey Birthday Chick, Happy Birthday, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJune2021Mini

These two are so cute!  I love the mop of feathers on the chicken eating the cupcake – it just cracks me up.  If you recall, the Hey Chick stamp set from 2017 had an egg with legs – in this set, the egg has hatched!  I truly love how these sets pair together.

But, even better – Stampin’ Up! has created coordinating dies for BOTH sets AND brought back the Hey Chick stamp set for a limited time as well!  How awesome is that?  I snagged the coordinating dies for both sets and will show you a picture of those dies in a minute.

Back to this particular card, I decided to do a fun Corner Flip Fold – you can check it out in this video – I make a template in the video which I hope is easy enough for you to follow.  If not, please ask – I’m happy to answer your questions!

My colors are Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and Basic White for the Card Stock.  I did use the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack behind the main panel.  I added a little sparkle to the cupcake with the Wink of Stella glitter pen:

I used Watercolor Pencils and a Blender pen to color the images.

Ok – so, let’s check out these dies.  For the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set:

Besides the die cuts for the chickens, there is a also a fence and bag of feed along with the Happy Birthday I used on my card.  I love that they have added extra elements!

For the Hey Chick dies, check these out!

A Hen House, Corn Stalk and Chicken Wire – SOOOO CUTE!!!   LOVE IT!!  So, if you missed out on the Hey Chick Stamp Set back in 2017, now is your chance to snag it!  If you already have it – purchase the coordinating dies and dust it off – so many more possibilities!

AND – lastly – purchase BOTH bundles and you will get FREE SHIPPING!  BUT this deal is only for today, March 17! So DO NOT WAIT!  Click here to head over to my store and grab these adorable bundles today!

Happy Mail

Hi!  Today is my last Snailed It post for the week.  This is a quick Z-Fold card which is a great way to show off our Designer Series Paper.

Snailed It, Snail Mail, Friendship, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJuneMini2021

The base of the card is Whisper White – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.  Fold like normal on the 4 1/4″ score line, then fold back on the 2 1/8″ to create a Z.

The Designer Series Paper strip on the front measures 2 1/8″ x 5 1/2″.  For the inside, the Designer Series Paper measure 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

The sentiment is stamped in Real Red ink and punched with the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch.

As I mentioned, a quick and fun card to end your week.

More Scrappy Fun!

Hi!  Continuing on with our Snailed It Suite this week for today’s card.  And, wanted to give you another idea on how to use those Designer Series Paper scraps.

Hello, Friendship, Snailed It, DSP Scraps, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJuneMini2021

This is such a fun layout to play with and so much you can do with it – plus a great way to use up those scraps!

For this card, I started with a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Snail Mail Designer Series Paper pack measuring 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″.  On the 4 1/2″ side, cut at 2 1/4″.  Rotate, keeping both pieces together, and on the 3 1/4″ side, cut at 1 5/8″.  You now have 4 equal sized rectangles.  Keep them in order for placement on the card.

For a mat, I used Real Red Cardstock measuring 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″.  Cut on the 4 3/4″ side at 2 3/8″.  Rotate, keeping both pieces together, and cut on the 3 1/2″ side at 1 3/4″.    Attach the Designer Series Pieces to these 4 Real Red pieces.

For the base of the card, I used Blushing Bride measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side and folded in half.  A layer of Basic White cardstock measuring 5 1/4″ x 4″ is layered on top.

Adhere 3 of the 4 squares as shown in the pattern above to the Basic White layer.  Stamp your sentiment in the lower right corner.   I punched a 2″ Real Red circle from scrap cardstock.

The mushrooms are stamped in Jet Black StaZon and colored with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  Colors are Garden Green, Real Red, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight.

Here’s another version using the Snail:

Snailed It, Birthday, DSP Scraps, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJuneMini2021

You don’t have to use all the same Designer Series Paper pattern, the final rectangles measure 2 1/4″ x 1 5/8″.  The mat layers measures 2 3/8″ x 1 3/4″.

Purchase the Snail Mail Suite Collection in my on-line store!  The suite qualifies you for a FREE Sale-A-Bration item when purchased prior to Feb 28th!  Don’t miss out!

A Little Birthday Snail

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a good weekend! Since I kicked off the week yesterday with a Snail Valentine, I decided to continue the theme and today we have a Snail Birthday.

Snailed It, Birthday, Stampin' Up!, SU!, Fun Fold, #JanJuneMini2021

Do you remember this fold from 2018?  It is the double point fold that I came across from Lisa Curcio.  Since it’s been a few years, I figured it was time to revisit it.  It is relatively easy to do and a great way to use your Designer Series Paper.

  1. Cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper 3″ x 4″.  Score at 1″ along the 3″ side.  (If your paper has a direction to it, for the top flap, score at 1″ from the top, for the bottom flap, score at 1″ from the bottom”)
  2. Fold the corners furthest from the score line down to the score line.
  3. Use adhesive to hold the corners down.
  4. Attach the 1″ flap to the top and bottom of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White card stock.
  5. Attach the Basic White card stock to a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ colored card stock.
  6. Use punches or die cuts for your front focal image that is big enough to span the two points.
  7. Decorate as desired and stamp a sentiment under the focal image for the inside of the card if desired.
  8. Attach the focal image to the TOP ONLY using dimensionals.

Here is a video showing the card above (it is the second card in the video):

For the snail, he is stamped in Jet Black Stazon and colored with Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen.  He is die cut with the coordinating die set.

The Stitched Nested Label dies provided the perfect layers to span the two flaps.  Did you catch the beveled edge on the Basic White layer?  That is easy to do and a great way to get more out of your dies!  Before popping out the cardstock from the die, flip it over and run your stylus along the inside edge of the die – it creates that beveled look.  (I show that in the video as well)!

And here he is in Real Red:

A Snail Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day!  What better way to celebrate than by sharing this adorable snail who’s stopping by to say Hi!

Valentine, Snail, Snailed It, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJuneMini2021

Isn’t he so sweet?  This little guy can be found in the Snailed It Suite of the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog.  He is stamped in Jet Black Stazon Ink and colored with Watercolor Pencils.

The little hearts are from the same catalog and part of the same suite.  They are the perfect addition to this card.

The sentiment comes from the January Paper Pumpkin Kit – which coordinated with this suite.  If you aren’t a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber and live in North America, I highly recommend it. (More information below).

The stitched trail around the outside of this panel I thought was perfect!  It is made using the Stitched with Whimsy Dies.

The heart paper behind the panel is from the Snail Mail Desginer Series Paper Pack.  I’d say, just get the entire suite, you won’t regret it!

Basic Black and Real Red cardstock complete the card.

So, a little more about Paper Pumpkin – it is a monthly subscription that ships right to your door every month for just $22 + tax. (USA).  The box contains everything you need from stamps, an ink spot, adhesives to the elements needed to complete the project.  The projects can range from cards, 3D items, home decor or treat packaging.   It is a box of creativity that will take between 30-60 minutes to complete.  If you haven’t tried it out, or it has been a while, I recommend giving it a shot.  There is no minimum commitment – you can cancel at any time – or if an upcoming kit isn’t to your liking (I typically provide hints in my newsletter), you can also skip a month.   The March Kit is a card kit and will include stencils and a sponge!  How fun is that!  Sign-up today here!

As Promised

Hi!  As promised, today I will share one more layout for using those three strips of Designer Series Paper shown yesterday.  While I used the same stamp set, I did change up the color palette.

Thank You, Dragonfly Garden, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #JanJune2021Mini, #dspscrapsThe Designer Series Paper is from the Dandy Garden Designer Series 6″x6″ pack.   I went with Mossy Meadow and Bumble Bee as my color palette for this card.  The Designer Paper strips are staggered behind the stamped panel.

I did enlarge the Bumble Bee layer and added a Basic White layer to add a bit of stamping.  The dragonflies are stamped in Bumble Bee and the sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  The sentiment is part of the Dragonfly Garden stamp set.

If you are looking for another layout using strips, check out this past post – it is also a fun layout to use up scraps.

I would like to thank those of you who have placed orders with me this month and are taking advantage of earning those FREE Sale-A-Bration products!  Just a reminder, that every $50 you spend prior to S/H and tax will earn you a FREE exclusive Sale-A-Bration product.  Shop today to earn yours!

Three Little Strips

Hi!  How are you today?  Me, I am on top of the world!  Thank you so much to those who commented on Saturday’s post – either directly on the post or via email.  You truly made my day and my heart full.

Today, I have a card using the Dragonfly Garden Bundle from the January-June Mini Catalog.  I heart Dragonflies and Butterflies and have a hard time resisting suites that contain them.

Dragonflies, Friendship, Just Because, Dragonfly Garden, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #DSP, #JanJune2021Mini

I love the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper – the colors are so me!  I wanted to share how you can use strips of Designer Series Paper to enhance your creations.

For this card, the strips are all 1″ wide.  The two shorter ones are 3 1/4″ in length and the bumble bee strip is 4″ in length.   The dragonfly is punched from a different piece of Designer Series Paper in the pack.  The colors are Misty Moonlight and Bumble Bee.   The sentiment is stamped in Misty Moonlight.   I did add a touch of sparkle to the dragonfly with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (hard to see in the picture – will try and highlight that next time I do it).

For this second card, I rotated the design to be portrait.

Dragonflies, Friendship, Just Because, Dragonfly Garden, Stampin' Up!, SU!, #DSP, #JanJune2021Mini

While all supplies measure the same, I did feel like I had a bit more white space, so I also stamped the small grouping of dragonflies in the along the right hand edge in Bumble Bee.

Here are the full measurements:

  • Base – Misty Moonlight – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ and folded
  • Basic White – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Two strips of Designers Series Paper – 1″ x 3 1/4″
  • One strip of Designer Series Paper – 1″ x 4″
  • Bumble Bee – 2″ x 2 3/4″
  • Scraps of Designer Series Paper or Basic White – either punch dragonflies from Designer Series Paper or stamp on Basic White and punch

Don’t be afraid to alter the layout or sketch – it is fun to get those creative juices flowing.  I’ll share another layout using the strips tomorrow.

The Dragonfly Garden Bundle is part of the Dandy Garden Suite.  I hope you will check it out in my on-line store!

Thanks for stopping by!
